That looks like its a slightly older version, 805.1 compared to 812.4. You can also get 908 or 912 versions. Check http://www.ross-tech.com/vcds/revisions.html for version info.

Anyone got this running on Windows7?

I bought the 805.1 version and the software provided does not run with windows7....

Edit: now got it working

Okay, having a little trouble with this...
Bought one of these to talk to my mk2 Leon (1P)

But it doesn't work with VCDS or my old, old copy of vag-com 504.1

Is that likely to be because I was connected to the internet? Or because it was the wrong cable.

After reading this entire thread, and researching DanGBs thread, decided to go for the cable. I think I will just use the software on the cd as long as im not online.

However just in case would anyone be able to PM me the 701 verson software just incase...not urgent as i'll propably be able to find it myself. Just those previously downloading this version and knowing the link that works. Torrent or zip no problems.

Seems like a pretty nifty purchase for what it can do...if I can get the car to chirp I'll be chuffed

It should do with no problem. Its just a later version than the one at the beginning of this thread.

Hi Guys, Thanks for all the really good info regarding VAG COM changes to the vehicles enhanced and often hidden capabilities. Just had a play with mine and managed to get rid of 2 of my huge bug bears with the locking...although that said i have now lost my indicator blink when using the remote to lock the car...????!!! It still flashes when i unlock though... My cars ECU is slightly eccentric i feel. On the whole though a good bit of kit. Big thanks to Nath, your a diamond.

Received the Cable this morning, on my day off work which was a bonus. Manged to find a copy of 704.1 from that site with ships and pirates. INstalled drivers software, simply dc the netbook from the internet by disabling wifi.

Plugged the cable in for 30 secs then connected the usb to the netbook, and away I went, works a treat. Managed to do a fault search, made the car chirp when locking and unlocking

Somehow though the opening and closing of the windows via remote is not working, will have to do some research into that one. But the chirping has paid for the cable itself (£20!!) Well worth it!

*EDIT* Got the windows opening closing via remote now, chuffed, best £20 ive spent on the car!

Any generic Vag-com cable around this price does excactly the same job if you follow instructions from this thread. Also DanGB has the best sticky thread for changes, search the forums or click the following link:

Have fun, the cable took around 8 days for delivery, some of the lads and lasses on here said it took longer. When it arrives itll be the cheapest and best mod you can go for (less a remap of course).
