You know you have a Mk2 when you're happily driving along and 4th and 5th gear spontaneously fail, and every other gear squeals like a pig when you brake. A matter of days before going on holiday:censored:

You know you have either an MK2 Ibiza or some sort of VW when everything is held on with never more than 4 bolts or clips, untill you get to the ignition cylinder... Which seems to be held in there with every other part on the entire car...

God I spent my entire day replacing that pig, Could have taken the whole car apart in that time, pretty much... Luckily I found out my boss had a gear puller before I scraped all the teeth of the steering collumn with the vise grips...

You know you have a mk2 ibiza when your gearbox, gearbox mount, coil pack, wishbone and cv joint are nearly dead, but you still defend the car with your life against mates that brand it '****' :')

You have to go through all the hassle of finding that wee clip, pushing it across and then dropping the bonnet so it catches if you know what I mean, if you don't push that clip across it doesn't grip the loop thing on the bonnet and it just lifts back up again.
Am I making sense? lol I've had 2 new bonnet catches, I have a spare in the garage.

Ah, i thought that was just me, it's so god damn annoying when that happens. Having to shut bonnet, open bonnet, swear a little bit, repeat until it eventually closes :(

I know! I don't even open the bonnet now as I still don't know what bit they are talking about to push back.

power to weight ratio-the rust makes mk2s weight less haha

See, i always forget, i'll open my bonnet, realise what i've done, then sigh, deeply.

Vngtx, how did you take the limiter off? Do you have a 8v or 16v?

8v , i just cleared the fault codes with the engine already running. it will take it out of limp mode until you turn the engine off again.

if its in limp mode you will definately know about it when you hit 5000rpm and it just bounces on 5k and wont go any higher.

you know you have a mk2 when its dropped so low the bottom edge of the exhaust tip sits flush to the slope on those really long speedbumps.

you know when you have a mk2 when sometimes, if you switch off the car (usually with the headlights on, and wipers have been on. (Typical rainy weather)), if you flash the main beam, you sometimes get the heater coming on alongside your wipers... strange!!

You know you have a Mk2 Ibiza when you get angry about your rear windscreen wiper that keeps going the whole way to school/work, because the darn thing won't shut off once you used it once, to get the rain from previous night of your window...

Or..

You know you have an 1.4 MK2 Ibiza when you think about opening her up on the motorway, to overtake "that heavy slow Leon Mk2" in front of you, and with your foot welded to the floor and your engine revving 4000RPM, the Leon still sprints away without any noise.... Leaving you humiliated on the onramp...
