i followed these instructions and it worked first time for me:

Remote Control Programming (1997 ON)

Procedure
1. Switch Ignition ON and leave the key in the ignition.

2. Mechanically lock the vehicle using the Drivers door using a second
key.

3. Using the remote control press the Unlock button once, and the horn
will sound once.

4. Wait 6 seconds and press the unlock button once to activate the coding
procedure. The remote control will now be programmed.

NOTE : When performing programming on additional remotes the procedure
is the same, except you press the unlock button 2, 3 or 4 times for the
different remote.

If you have any problems or questions please e-mail me and I'll try to help.

For example : If programming 2 remotes press the unlock button twice with
a 1 second interval between each press, repeat for 3 and 4 remotes.

I have tried this loads of times but the car won't register the key so i'm thinking maybe the key might not be compatible, could someone tell me?:

My standard key that came with the car is:

433 MHZ / 5FA 007 680

The flip key (which i cant connect to the car) is:

433 MHZ / HLO 1JO 959 753 A

..but then it has another code saying:

5FA 8137-00

So basically is this key compatible?

Many thanks :)

I found this method which seems to differ slightly and might just work for you:

- car is locked
- unlock with normal key manually at drivers doorlock
- IGN ON with normal key ... leave it there
- use NEW remote key to lock the car manually at drivers doorlock
- remove remote key from doorlock
- press "lock" at the NEW key, indicator lights will flash
- then hold the "unlock" for ~3 sec. and indicators will flash long and the doors should unlock
- coding procedure should be successfully finished.

See if this slightly different second method works Veyron. I've got my fingers crossed for yer :)

PS I also read somewhere the whole procedure should be carried out in under 30 seconds

I bought a 3 button flip key remote on ebay for my '05 Ibiza FR and it works!

Here's the part number 1J0 959 753 DA

This is the method I used to code the remote(from this thread):

- car is locked
- unlock with normal key manually at drivers doorlock
- IGN ON with normal key ... leave it there
- use NEW remote key to lock the car manually at drivers doorlock
- remove remote key from doorlock
- press "lock" at the NEW key, indicator lights will flash
- then hold the "unlock" for ~3 sec. and indicators will flash long and the doors should unlock
- coding procedure should be successfully finished.

Carrying out the coding procedure took 20 seconds tops.

The middle boot button works! Which I didn't expect TBH.

PS The FR badge cost £5 and aint great quality.

Thanks mate but still no luck at all, might bring it with me if i go to any meets and let someone else try, at least it works as a physical key/imbobiliser :)

Hi all. Got my 52 plate Ibiza 130 tdi lastnight.
All i got with it is a normal key, no flip no buttons on end of key just a key.
So as i found out unless key is in ignition when u work on it. Alarm goes off GGGRRRRR
So as i see there a few sorts of alarm buttons, does it matter which sort of 2 button.
I had a passat that had 2 button flip key. Also see there is one thats part of the key.

So take it i need the big flip sort. Next thing is how do i find out which signal car needs (434 or 433)

£130 from seat WOW and not in stock.

It should say on your existing key what signal is, thread somewhere in the forum with all the details, and also there is someone selling flip keys in the accessories for sale section. I'm sure if you search the forum threads you will be able to find the details.

Hope this helps. :D

I've now got all my parts for the flip key and got this cut at a local key cutting place (Timpsons wanted £75 to cut the blade!), and got the chip out of my spare remote key.

However I am having difficulty with opening up the top of the key. I have taken off the Seat badge and taken out the screw but it just won't prise apart. Any ideas or has this been glued together. I've tried so much that it has now broken.

Thanks

It should just come apart, try a large flat head screwdriver in the gap and turn it

I pm'd xhale a link to a youtube vid on how to open a VW type flip key yonks ago...I guess he's sussed it...then again he might still be struggling

Hi Red Panda,

I got the link, many thanks. In the end I managed to do it, but it was all glued together!
I purchased the three button remote and all this works fine, and even the boot button works which is a result.
The instructions on coding the car were excellent and worked first time. (I left the drivers window open just in case!)

A lot of good info, thanks.

Hi,

I'm new to this forum but just wanted to add to this thread that I have found the info very very useful and would like to thank all people who have contributed.

I have a genuine version of the VCDS software and lead that I bought from ILEXA a couple of years ago. I have programmed several keys to MK4 Golfs in the past. All of the keys that I have programmed have been flip style keys matched to the exact details of the originals. They have arrived with blank blades and all had virgin transponders fitted.

I follwed the guidlines on programming the transponder to the car (clocks) using the VCDS software and as a by-product of this coding procedure all the keys coded in that particular session also worked the central locking without any further tinkering needed. The hardest part of the whole process was cracking the PIN (SKC) of the VW immobiliser/clocks to allow me to add keys to the car.

I now own a '08 Ibiza 1.9 TDi FR (pre shape change I believe). I have 1 solid key and 1 remote (non-flip) key with the car. I have the same trouble as a lot of forum members in that my key has no details of frequency or part number printed on it anywhere, even inside as I've had it fully to bits!

The only piece of positive news as far as I can see is that my Ibiza has a nice little Black plastic tag hanging on the spare key keyring which has a 7 digit code printed on it. Is this the fabled SKC that VW no longer supply with new cars? I will hook up the laptop and try this 7 digit code to see if it allows me access to the immobiliser cluster when I get chance. If it does then it's a case of - Back of the net! (Alan Partridge).

I have bought a 3 button SEAT key off ebay that has a virgin transponder fitted and blank blade. Going by the info in this thread I'm hoping that:

A) The key will work even though it isn't the correct key for my car.

B) That even the boot button might work as well which would be a great bonus.

Thanks,

Jon.

Hi Jontylad :)

You've got one up on me matey as I don't have my SKC. My flip key is one from ebay - one with 1J0 in the serial number (rather than 1K0) oh and it's a DA. The middle 'boot' button works on it too, which is a bonus. I've posted a couple of pics a few posts ago in this thread so people can see the serial number of the remote which has worked for me on my '05.

TBH having hunted through this massive thread, some people seem to have 433Mhz and some 434Mhz printed on their remotes...I don't believe it matters.

I now have two remote keys, one flip and the other the standard one. Plus a normal non remote key which I had to take the transponder out of to help make the flip key.

As i say, I don't have my SKC but do have a virgin transponder so I guess I'd have to go to a main stealer to get the transponder coded?

ok i've bunged together a quick video of the flip key, details and the pairing process,

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1J4NquusPK0

hopefully this will help (appologies it is a bit crap )
Excellent job Phil  Nice one! :D

PS I managed to get my transponder out of the normal key by using a pin and some nail varnish remover. Took an hour or two but eventually got it sorted without having to wreck the key.
