Thats superb in all aspects including the writeup.

Cheers mate, i guess you could use this for a guide, there's not much on here about WMI

Nice work there mate. Shame about the controller, hopefully it all works perfectly fine when you get a new one. Keep us updated!
Cheers, Yeah i was gutted when i found the controller was faulty, i had to go over and rewire everything just to be sure, i am dying to start using this kit.

looking good mate. Try and protect your pump from the elements if you can, mine has just died from internal corrosion.

Thats a bummer Danny, I am gonna fashion up a perspex box to attach to the mount and cover it.Also i seen a post on the DO forum about a pump that was dead from internal build up of crap, the guy took it to pieces and cleaned it all and it started working, also if it is the motor an auto electric place should be about to re-wire the motor.

I have already rebuilt it once. It is the main spindle that is shot now. Might see if my local electrics place can help, they've done a couple of starter motors for us. Cheers

UPdate Dyno

Just a little update,
I got my new controller from DO, i downgraded to a stage 2 WMI controller, the only difference is that it does not have a build in MAP sensor, so i needed to run a tap from the the cars MAP sensor to the controller, no big deal really and i think it look better, as it has no boost port on the side.

I have been expierimenting over the past fews days with the WMI, and i am seeing super low IAT's.The graph below depicts the IAT's with WMI and without WMI, please bear in mind that for this log i only used water.

I went for some mixed driving today, one journey with just water injection and one without water injection, I used the same route both times btw.For both journeys I made sure the IAT was reading was 39c on idle and I also used my thermal gun to measure the surface temp of the manifold and cold side pipe work, the manifold was 44c and the pipe work 48c, while this does not sound much but I challenge anyone to leave there hand on it for more that 15sec, the outside temp today in clonmel was 22c.

I logged both journeys start to finish, the graph below depicts the temp readings I took, the Pink line is no WMI and the blue is with WMI, you can clearly see with no WMI the IAT start good but as soon as the temp go up while just sitting at the lights it finds it very difficult to recovery and could be classed as heat soaked, a dead duck, the reason turbo aspirated cars are only good for a few runs on the dyno, heat is there worst enemy robbing us of power and in turn fun.

The blue line is with WMI(remember just water for now) While it was slow at the start to get the temps down once it did it consistently keep them low with very healthy IAT readings and the more I drove the lower they got, it gave the car an outstanding chance to recovery from when temps went up and whenever I put the car under load you can see the temps drop on the graph, all in all I am very happy with this. At the start of both run the IATS were 39c, at the end of the run I had a NO WMI Vs WMI temps of 39c VS 23c, that’s a huge difference, the manifold was super cool to touch Vs your skin sticking to it, its all about keeps temps down and this a very encouraging thus far.

After my above fooling around with the system i got it on the Dyno, by the end of the dyno and some 8* of timing later it pulled 278bhp at 5700rpm and 295lb/ft at 4300rpm which is a very nice result on a dyno dynamic RR. The IAT were super low I just need to work on a CAI as these were up in the 40's. I am gonna get it dyno'ed on another roller as they don't call the DD RR the ball buster for nothing.

Graphs and pics below:

New WMI contoller(much Neater IMP)

This is the IAT reading from my on the road logging

Car on the RR and my Mani;

Basically now my K04 just can't flow anymore so its time for a hybrid K04 and hopefully some new high flow mani's will be out soon.

Another nice review Rob.

Surely to get most out of the WMI you will need to retard the timing to get the most out of the methonal?

Stick the ko4 hybrid in the bin there shite , cars looking good tho

Why's that, i see Bill has had some good results lately for the hybrid and its a bolt on mod, unlike the BT.

Thats not my understanding, the more timing you can run the more power you can get, well within reason that is, you can go to much.I had 0 CF across the board and basically it would not knock on the dyno. Why did you thinkg retarding timing would yield more power?

Cheers, uploading the vids now.

I am no expert on WMI for petrols, just what I read on a few write-ups online and results I seen from our friends on here (DPJ, Probee and Skorchio). I believe Skorchio got 293bhp from his KO4 and WMI although I am not sure what his CFs was.

293Bhp from a K04 !!, however there is another dyno i am going to next week(Revo) and i know it will perform better, but then which is the accurate result!!

DJP is BT, so i cannot reference his setup.

I followed RobDon's RR thread, timing does need to be dialed in to get the gain for sure.
I seen only a 3bhp gain from 40/60 mix on my current map untill we uppped the timing.

I have some more updates coming tomorrow of stuff I have ordered, ( high flow mani, hybrid, rods etc...) i also install a mbc so i will get pics and logs up.

What did you have to do? Nah I'm not a fan on my wheels now. Wanted a change of wheels and these were a bit of a panic buy lol. Really want ch's now I always have. I want a wider stance to. And maybe bring the car to the wheels more

It took me a while to figure out the right spacer and the right ride height for the coilovers, the i found i was getting rubbing on the front so i had to buy 2 new tyres with a slight stretch on them so stop rubbing, it was worth it in the end though.:D
