Nice just had a look at it, was thinking about going down the GT2860RS route myself but yours seems more sensible :lol: getting a quaife diff fitted next week so see how things are after that :p

Better off going GT2871r now so you won't have to change everything again in a years time etc ;)

Personally I think you should Rob. Your gt2x was not far of the gt2860rs in terms of bhp, and perhaps won't be a big enough hike in power

If it was me I would go with the gt2871r to sufficiently notice the difference in power and warrant the cost of the upgrade :)

Is it not going to be too much?

"absolute power corrupts absolutely" and all that.....

Surely that is too much to put theough a FWD car?

I would say the GT2860 will be better for a road car, I drive mine everyday and unless your keeping in the powerband its not the easiest turbo to get on boost as it is. Increased lag with the GT2871R for only pure top end power. I would say it will be more driveable on the 2860 but if your chasing power figures or doing mostly track days then go 2871R.

Worst come to worst, its not the hardest turbo to remove if you feel like an upgrade in the future, and you won't have to change 'everything' as someone has suggested.

agree

normally I would say gt2860rs would be enough, less lag and better driveable everyday power, as I am all for one for driveability as figures are for pub bragging rights

however in Robs case, his GT2x is running very well, and there may not be a big enough jump in power, hence I suggested the gt2871r

I dont think Robs is a daily driver, so in terms of power and fun, the bigger turbo may be the better choice

I'll need to think quick about it, Zircotec phoned me today to say my manifold and DP are done and I'll have them back tomorrow, so I plan to start building things back up next week. The GT2860RS could be an awesome all-rounder and be perfect for me, whereas I might find the GT2871R too laggy and be frustrating to drive. If I go GT2871R now I may end up ruining what could be the perfect turbo for me.

So I am going to run it as the GT2860RS to begin with and see what it's like once fully mapped with the WMI and some advanced timing. If it doesn't feel like a big enough jump in power I will send it off to CR Turbos for the GT2871R upgrade. Because it is top-mounted removing it will be easy.
