Is called a suction pump valve and

Check valves are used through the car's vacuum system to operate things like wastegates, brake boosters, and even boost gauges. If you're having any problems with your vacuum system these valves could be the culprit. They allow vacuum to pass one direction and not the other. A bad check valve can lead to vacuum leaks which could affect all sorts of other items.

What would the symptoms of having a leak in the PCV system be?

I didn't make it that clear. Did you take the inlet mani off to change the pump and breathers? Roughly how much was it mate. I am thinking of just getting the pump and upgrading the hoses to forge ones.
