Hi Paul

OK, you need to remove the plastic trim that sits on the left side of the passenger foot well and goes almost up under the dash.

Then the black foam cover you have already spotted, just take off the screw things and pull it back.

You will need to cut away the insulation tape around the wiring loom that also hides the pipe you want to join back up.

Then push the lose connector into the socket, make sure the pipe is not snagged and in a nice loop that tends to push the connector together.
Then add some tape around what was the lose end making sure that its pushing into the socket.
This will keep it tensioned right, something I am amazed Seat never did!

You will see at least one electrical connector that will have been getting wet, be sure to add some WD40 to this and any other vulnerable areas.

I would say do not open the connector as this may cause issues with the car and as far as I know even trigger the air bag (I don't know so I don't touch LOL)

If you get stuck or don't understand me I'll take some photos and put them up here, just ask :)

Mike

Thanks Mike - I will try and find some time to look at this ASAP.

So pleased I came across this thread - took a while of searching tho :)

Cheers for replying !

Hi agin Mike

Thanks for your help.

Just spent the last hour or so outside and can see the problem. The pipe work has come loose and everytime you use the rear wiper, you can just seen the water pouring out in to the wireing loom / carpet - Suprised any water makes it to the back window! So EXATLY the same as yours! (mines a 54 plate Leon mk1)

Two questions for you or the forum:

1/ How did you secure the pipe work - maybe a jublie clip? It will obviously come loose again, tho its ok for now (tested with most of the water bottle and it seems OK{lucily there isnt a water shortage down here!}).

2/ How do you dry out the carpet and sound proofing? The words "swimming" and "pool" spring to mind. So far, I've just dried them and lifted them up which will allow air to get under there. Obviously taken off the excess with a TWO towels.

Any suggestions or thoughts welcome!

Thanks.

Paul

Hi Paul

To secure it, tape the loop of pipe (the end that was lose) to the wiring loom so that it pushes into the connector, its easy done using some Duck tape.

To dry out, well I poked a hole in the rubber plugs under the foot well in the rear seats.
This let loads of water out and can be easily resealed when we get some rain.

Then, if you have a carpet cleaner or know someone who does, or maybe a wet n dry vax, just suck up as much water as you can with this.
Initially through the carpet and then, as I did yesterday under and in the underlay.

Good luck

OK - Thanks again for all your help. Ill use some duct tape or zip ties to get it nice and tight against the wireing loop as sugested.

Yes, we have a carpet shampoo hoover which will do the job - Havent been in the back yet but will have a look for those rubber plugs.

Have a good evening :)

It's got a lot to do with freezing temperatures. The join will progressively open up when the washer pipes freeze in the winter then open up more in the summer when the weather is warmer and the plastic expands. Try and make sure that you use proper winter washer mix so it does not freeze. Made in Spain !this sort of issue don't really show on their radar there !
