The blowtorch method is admittedly tried an tested, but from what I've seen it's not perfect, there are always spots if it lingers a bit too long in some areas - although it might not show in pictures. The C4 actually chemically bonds with the bumper and puts it back the way it was when it was new. You have to rub it down with alcohol first and get rid of old product and it's probably not the easiest to apply, but when I say expensive I mean £20 so it's not like i went out and bought a blowtorch ;) besides if it lasts two years thats pretty good and I might even get more than one application out of it. Anyway, I'll post the results since you're interested! I've booked the car in with my auto-electrician since I'm a bit of a ***** when it comes to wiring, also bought some yellow tinting film (not lamin-x just some cheap sh!t) for the fogs, so I should have them sorted in the next few weeks along wth the lighter. Any ideas what to do next? My heart is saying port, polish, cam but my head is saying G40. Although to be fair the missus is saying mortgage lol. I think I might band the rear wheels by 1 inch and sell the spacers...

I'm not like you guys...
your talkin to the wrong fella mate haha, ive got a few ideas of what i would want to do with my 'loon.
G40 would be good, if yours is a 1.3 the bottom end off a GT will go straight on, and I dont care what people say, all the heads are the same. lol

So possibley, 4-2-1 fanimold, P+P, Homebrew bike carb conversion, GT bottom end, cam.
Thats what im gonna do eventually i think. Unless i stuff this engine, then it will be a conversion of some kind haha.

Oh yeah, dont forget to relay the light circuit. Theres a few guides on polo3 etc, really worth doing.
Also you could get the rocker cover powder coated? As for cleaning the engine bay, its a bit of a bugger, as they put this wax stuff down, but with a bit of elbow grease, engine degreaser, and other solvents haha, you can get it off, and as I know you want it looking CL-eaaan, I would make a start on that..

sorry DK if that means your doing it :p

haha, cheeky fecker - I only use Darrens help when I dont have the right tools for the job lol

I'm with you on the idea of keeping the original lump, especially since mine is only on 30k
The bay's not looking too bad tbh, done the rocker cover (got a chrome one) and 421 mani, think I might get one of those shiny K&Ns that replace the whole air filter housing.

I'll have to look into the light circuit, thanks for that!

Don't go to bling mate....try hard to stick with the OEM theme and tidy up what you have.....so long as it's in a good enough state to be tidied up of course ;)

Martin, can I ask how you are doing the yellow fogs? Is it like a yellow material that bonds/wraps onto the fog lights?

a lot of people use lamin-x to tint their headlights. It is a tough protective film that goes over fogs or headlights and you buy it pre-cut to the shape you need for your car. But being a Scot I am just using yellow tint film. It does the same thing and is about 1/8 of the price. I'll probably have plenty left over if you want some, bought a whole roll ;)

Yeah mate, send me some pics of em and I'll post them up on the gallery page.

Trouble with shopping centres etc is that a lot of those bumps are on private property and as such are not controlled by the councils, although I think they still need to be less than 10cm.

looks like they're brand new, next time im there i'll get some pics but they're definately more than 10cm. it's where you know where the round the back is, and on the left is that sort of lake, they've put two down there. I don't know if it's public or not though it's hard to tell.
It looks like they're there as like a crossing as well as it's flush with the curbs either side.

Picked up a new bonnet the other day after spotting it on eBay for 99p. I didnt need or want one, but after a few beers it seemed like a great idea. It is slightly rusty and was a bit scratched and dinged, so when i got home I started spraying it four different colours and have been sanding it down and just basically turning it into an abstract work of art. I know it doesn't suit the style of my car, but it was pretty much free (even the paint) and it's keeping me out of trouble. I might never put it on, or I might use it at a show one day, I dont know. It'll probably end up covered in stickers and I might try to pop a few bullet holes in it for cooling ;)

Anyway, on to more serious matters.
