More complex and hotter the hot hatch the bigger the running costs. My GTi will probably be the last one I have as going for something like a LCR would make a huge difference. One tyre on an LCR is the same as four on my old GTi, same kind of difference for brakes, clutches, insurance, tax etc.

I'm even looking for an old Polo now too as Martin says, they can put just as much of a smile on your face for a fraction of the price. Plus if it breaks parts are cheap and most of them you can fit yourself.

I popped round to Darrens today (DK) and conned him into angle grinding those extended bolts and washing my car - lol dont ask, he has an OCD related issue

Air filter housing was looking a bit tatty, touch of surface rust and some chipping so I decided to give it a bit of a refurb.

some nitromors and a bit of scraping:

lots of scraping, some steel wool and elbow grease (the black bits are rust not paint):

Now I'm watching paint dry (actually watching Spain V Chile).

Not much else to report to be honest, got a new central dash part on it's way to me which has the luxurious addition of a cigarette lighter (I know, I'm a pampered vvhore lol), I've quit smoking fags but can't charge my phone doh. Should also have the foglights on and wired up sometime this week. Oh and a new sticker sitting in the back window, although I'm not sure how long it'll last it's a bit bright.

hehe, never say never, I just thought that a tenner for some Nitromors and Hammerite was better than £50 for a proper K&N replacement. If I had the right tools I'd give everything a good polishing too but right now I'm just making the most of what I've got ;)

5 days since an update, i'm really slacking.

When I gave the old girl a good wash on Sunday I realised that the plastic trim was fading again. I hate using that back to black wax stuff, it really is horrible. It only lasts a few weeks and turns your hands, clothes and the surrounding paint black too. Anyway, i did a bit of research and found out about Gtechniq C4, it's really expensive and in a really small bottle, but apparently it lasts for two years! I only bought it yesterday afternoon and it was at the door this morning, top service!

Cant wait to put that stuff on!

Also, I picked up some new Bosch wipers - actually difficult to find non-flat blade ones! I needed the old school traditional look of course ;) Anyway, they're on and work GREAT

And then yesterday morning I received my new dashboard panel with fangled new cigarette lighter! oh the luxury!

Dont give him ideas, this is the man who put his back light's in the oven to soften the glue and forgot about them, I'm sure you can imagine what happend
