That V-Zine also had an eco test: London to Monaco on one tank of diesel with three modern 1.6 cars. The Passat Bluemotion 'won' by a fair margin by the way, making 84.1mpg! (And not making the wait for my Ecomotive 1.6cr SE any easier...)

Slightly more on topic, from memory, they didn't specify if they brimmed the tanks with V-Power Diesel or their standard fuel, which I thought was odd if they thought the V-Power would give more mpg as well as the claimed engine cleaning abilities. One might conclude that V-Power diesel has more detergents but little performance benefit?

Yeah I agree, I think the properties of v-power diesel are to keep the engine internals cleaner for longer, thus like new!

As mentioned above, if you factor in the improved mpg (about 4%, I reckon), then V-Power isn't really much more than standard petrol.

I'll try it for myself when the cars fixed although going 25 miles to work everyday is a bit different than a long haul journey to Monaco, plus i take into account the overtaking of slowpokes on the way

The article about London to Monaco was using diesels though... I don't think that V-Power Diesel offers the same mpg gains as V-Power Petrol does. Shell would tell you that the extra cleaning additives in the V-Power Diesel are worth it but I'm not sure it represents as good value as their premium petrol fuel. All IMHO of course.

Yep, a fiver off flea-bay for the retainers, a bit of 3m vinyl and a couple of decals and they tidy the brakes up quite well, anyway back on topic and I ain't noticed any difference in performance or mpg between any of the supers or normal fuel, I just tend to use shell 95 but will up it to v-power when the remap comes in the next few weeks.

the v power makes a diff you wont feel it for the 1st 2 tanks till the ecu learns to adapt to it and good yob on the brakes mate
