Just so you know, you do not need to edit the Host files if you are sure to disconnect from any internet source.

Its basically a fail safe.

success! had a go again today on different laptop. Just installed 812.4 from the CD that came with the cable, changed date, disconnected internet and it worked.

Enabled unlock/lock chirp, reduced coming home lights to 10s but couldn't remember anything else from top of my head. I'll print out the guide tonight and have a go again.

More worryingly I had 3 fault codes.

1 Fault Found
00856 - Radio Antenna
011 - Open Circuit - Intermittent

Strange this one as my radio works perfectly fine, good reception... don't know... could it be at antenna end (on the roof) rather than behind stereo? I'm sure I have plugged aerial cable back in when I was fitting in Parrot.

1 Fault Found
01135 - Interior Monitoring Sensors
004 - No Signal/Communication - Intermittent
Freeze Frame:
Fault Status: 00100100
Fault Priority: 4
Fault Frequency: 193
Reset counter: 121
Time Indication: 0

Hm this is strange - I need to test it with windows open. I thought it has worked once when I had drivers side window open and put my hand in when car was locked.... but then when someone smashed my rear windscreen with the hammer alarm didn't go off - maybe this is the reason?

1 Fault Found
01274 - Air Flow Flap Positioning Motor (V71)
000 - - - Intermittent

That surely is the bloody clicking noise every now and then. I need to book the car in to resolve this!

Could this just be from disconnecting the aerial for a carwash or something? Just a theory. If you have consistently good radio reception then it seems unlikely that there's a genuine problem.

Hi,

I have bought the following cable

http://www.bestofferbuy.com/VAG-COM...ource=gbase&utm_medium=cse&utm_campaign=gbase

I have been successfully using it with 704.1, however, I really need a newer version. Has anyone had success using that cable with anything newer than 704.1? If so, would be they so kind as to zip the install up and send it to me? My email address is densil101@ hotmail .com (without the spaces)

Many thanks,

did it not come with the new version on a small disk mate?

Depends on the year of the car, older than 06 reg and I think you may be out of luck.

But what does it mean? Is interior monitoring working?

Saying there is no fix is bollocks. If there is a fault there must be a fix and dealer is obliged to fix it. Having ability to check faults ourselves now we cannot be easily dissmissed by dealer saying that they fixed it while they didn't...

mines a 2007 1p

any ideas how to work the mirrors

You need to press and hold the lock button for about 2-3 seconds, it's best if you stand close to the car for this.

If it isn't enadled on your car you need to buy the $25 cable from post no 36, download the free software and enable it yourself.

Talking of mirrors theres no way to get them to fold automatically on locking and unlocking the car is there? I always tend to fold my mirrors when i lock up and its a pain when it doesnt receive the extra signal to start folding.

See the first line 2 posts up ^^^^^

Yeh I know how to fold them in by keeping hold of the button (one of the reasons i went for a leon fr over a golf). What I would really like is for them to fold and unfold as soon as u hit the lock/unlock buttons via a vagcom change and not have to keep hold of lock to fold in and ignition to unfold.

If i leave mine control nob thingy in the 'mirrors up' position i'm sure when I get in the car they automaically come down... but that might be ignition and not unlock... if my car hadn't been crashed into and wasn't sat in the body repair garage i'd go and have a look. :(
