Cheers. It's one of those things you just have to do. Here's the latest few pics taken today, showing the new Nurburgring centre by the Dorint hotel on the entrance to Nurburg, complete with rollercoaster that runs alongside the GP circuit :D

That's it for now, hopefully I'll be up early enough to get one or two final laps in before setting off back home in the morning :)

:) Yeah no worries mate, got to be done.

Just been out for an early morning lap before we set off back home and managed a 9:18 with a serious accident we had to stop for, costing ~20 secs so I think I'm justabout within the 8s now and that wasn't my best lap either, quite sloppy with some of the lines and held up in a couple of places. I managed to hold pace with a stripped and caged E36 M3 all the way round, keeping him in my rear view mirror for a majority of the lap so happy days.

The track's now been shut off to clear all the debris from what's left of the two Porsches just after foxhole, whoops, so looks like that'll be it for this trip. Time to get packed up and head home!

I bet you´ll need a few days to get down to earth now:) Nice time and a couple of more rounds you´ll be hitting low 8´s.

From what you´re writing it looks like there´s bin a lot of accident on the track? Did you feel safe out on the track?

:) Just pulled up back home, with car in one piece and running as smoothly as when it left.

It's stood up to a lot of abuse this weekend so I'm pleased to see the money I spent trying to make it as reliable as possible seems to be paying off. It's no wonder that track is a renowned car killer.

seen your car down the road from where we are staying. not seen it out on track though.

Cool I was keeping an eye out for yours but didn't see it. Whereabouts were you staying?

There was a Stage 2 K03S Cupra R staying at our place too

Great updates! Break into the 8's!!!

:D Without the accident I had to stop for on the last lap I think that would have been a high 8, bit gutting really but something to work on for next time.

After coming off track and looking over a video there's a few lines I got completely wrong which undoubtedly cost me a lot, but I'll work on those :)

Standing in the car park when the track shut last night I overheard a guy who was disappointed with a few "slow" 8:40s, though I felt better when he said he was running a 600 BHP Evo!

Cheers mate, yes you do! :D How many times have you been over?

No worries, just give me a shout whenever.

Cool sounds good, yeah they handle very nicely :) lol, I'll let you know when I'm next heading over - hopefully before the end of the year. Such an awesome place, I think I'd actually live there if I could.

lol very true, cheers Prebs. To be honest my first few laps were quite humbling as it showed how little I remembered from my last trip and the need to smoothen up my lines, but all good.

After 3-4 laps it was all coming back together and I'm sure with a good clean run I could break into mid-high 8s without much trouble now, though there's always a small voice telling you to hold back and keep the car on the tarmac, especially when you see some of the wrecks that get towed off.

From memory I think I saw at least 1-2 cars off the track on each lap, with several track closures over the weekend too from some serious incidents. When I came through on my last lap these two Porsches had only just crashed and there was debris all over the track, you have to think fast and keep your wits about you.

If I actually thought about how potentially dangerous it is out there I'd probably never do another lap - you just have to know your limits and keep an eye in your mirrors. If you treat it with respect you can have a great time out there.

I tried to catch a video of my last lap using a pencil cam strapped to a seatbelt but the angle was set too high :( I'm going to check out the normal photography sites though to see what shots have been taken as there were loads of photographers out :D

Ah cool, that's where I stayed last time. Nice little line up of cars there. Get many laps in?

Was it the owner's yellow Porsche that was stacked yesterday evening before the track closed?

I didn't see it out on track so I'm not sure how he got on. His mate in a MK1 Focus RS side swiped a barrier though, damaging the front bumper, wing, rear arch and both wheels :(

been 3 times now, but like you before i havent been for last 2 years now, which is a bit pants.

I havent had a proper run at it on the hybrid either, as the last time i went was when i was having big issues with that stupid manifold! i managed 2 laps before it went on me, first lap out was a 9.16 though :) and did another 9.16 on my 3rd lap in the damp and with the mani gasket blowing like mad

You got buckets and harnesses in your car robbie?

No, standard interior lol. I took a mate out who by the end of the lap begged me to invest in harnesses :D

Wouldn't be a bad idea, though I know if I start going down that road it'll lead to full track prep lol

:)

Yeah it's achievable, I'd hope for a mid 8 after a couple more laps if I don't leave it too long before going again, and maybe some better tyres too.

Here's one pic a mate of mine found on one of the photographer's websites this morning, will try and find a few more as there were plenty taken.

I hate how skinny the standard wheels are lol

evo did 41 laps i think and the sierra did bout 30, so they got quite a few in.
no dont think it was his porsche.

my mate clipped the barrier aswell in his rs turbo when trying to swerve out of the way of a evo that spun of infront of him.
