Ok so my car is now fooked up.

I made sure I was not connected to the internet.

I followed the vag com guide in the FAQ section and attempted to disable the cold bulb checking for my LED sidelights, changed the coding by just one digit and hit "DO IT" it came up with "this function requires a license interface"

after playing with this vag-com malarky and getting nowhere I now have the following problems.

no interior lights
no remote locking
no bluetooth
no radio
no heated seats

and my mileage display says TRA instead of numbers.

Do you reckon that a dealer will be able to see that I have plugged onto it?

BTW I have checked all fuses and they're ok.

Maybe a silly queation. Have you tried connecting to the same module again and changing this bit to what it was before?

Yes. The change never took place in the first instance as it comes up with a message sying this function requires a licenced interface.

I had the msg first time when I was using the downloaded software but all I did was do a auto can scan... however I switched to the software on the disk and worked on the only trouble is that the software is out of date other than that its fine for me.

Finally got my replacement cable. Had a bit of a game with the cd they sent me and ended up reprogramming the cable as later version of vag com disabled it!! Anyway its all working good now on 812.4 version. Got a fault code during scan this morning.
Been in and changed my alarm so that it chirps now when set and unset :)
Going to have a look at what else I can find later, hopefully disable the stupid tear-drop wiper function!

How is everyone gettng 812.4 working. I can get 704.1 working no problems, but when I try 812.4 it doesnt seem to work. I have tried with the usb driver from both 704.1 and 812.4. Any ideas?

what do you mean its not working? so it works with 704.1 fine (then the drivers for the cable is correct) you should be able to install the 812.4 as normal then have it on usb in the option's menu then test once its plugged into the car and as i said before its from the cd... where are you stuck on mate?

I stuck the cd in, installed 812.4, it asked if i wanted the driver installed, I clicked yes.

Disabled the wireless then stuck my cable in and it worked fine.

Windows 7 x64 btw ;)

My cable arrived today, I installed both versions: 704 and 812. First works fine and finds cable (not tried on car yet), but 812 flagged up a Trojan Horse through AVG. Not sure if this is a false positive yet though, about to look it up. Could be nothing, but I'd all check your AV software is up to date.

Either way, they both installed fine side by side. I selected to install the USB drivers again during the 812 install, and the cable is still recognised with 704.

Just got mine today and followed the extremely long thread on Digital-Kaos forum. Works fine with the version available for download off there. Managed to get leaving home lights working straight away. Anyone have any tips on anything not covered in DanGB's guide (Which is superb by the way)? I'm interested in dial sweeps and other pointles cool stuff and running lights? (I've not tried this but does switching the drl's on make the front sides come on and not the rears?).

NEW CODE!

Ok, had some proper time spent playing around with vag com and made (for me anyway) a great discovery.

I now have a washer bottle empty indicator, on the standard dash! WOOHOO!

Went in to section 17 - Instruments
Then in to Coding
Clicked on the coding entry box, which brings up the "guide" showing all the values
Switched off the seatbelt warning ping as per the guide (changed 2 to 0)
Noticed the entry for washer bottle indicator, thought what the hell and gave it a go
(set the relevant digit to +4 - same digit as the seatbelt warning, which then became 4 - or 6 if you want the annoying seatbelt ping left on)

As it happens my washer bottle emptied yesterday and hadnt had chance to fill it up (and was yet again annoyed at the lack of indicator).....

And guess what, it bloody worked. I now have a washer bottle level indicator showing that I need to top it up

For me this is worth the cost of the cable by itself. I'm well chuffed!

Oh and if anyone discovers how to turn off the damn teardrop function on the front wipers can they let me know. I cant find anything anywhere for front wipers. I found teardrop for the rear wiper but nothing for the front.

.

Quality find sir, nice! I wonder if there is a sneaky green cruise control indicator hiding away for all non large MFD peeps? hmmm???

just a point, i switched on the chirp when lock etc a couple of weeks ago and now when i look into module 46 i do not have the functions listed, relevant bytes are not ticked and have no text beside them either??? I must be doing something wrong.?

I took my 812 cd that came with the cable, and canned it (because i thought it only worked with the 704) :-( Can anybody perhaps zip the cd down, and send it ? -if it does not take up to much space :)

Well seems like the washer level indicator light is just that, a light that is either on or off.... washer was empty this morning, light was on, filled it up, drove to work, light stayed on all the way. Must be more to it... lack of sensor in the bottle or something? Damn you Seat dashing my hopes like that. Whats the point of having the indicator but no sensor :censored:
