am tring to make my mind up on what wheels to for on my car? at the moment banded steels are top of my list, my friend owns a company that refurb wheels and also band wheels, am thinking 16x9" all round, i want maximum impact from the wheels as i intend to do shows aswell as track. also my brother has just put some new schmits on his ibiza cupra r and it looks amazing, hes also won at hearwood house vw show best seat 4times now so to win over him would be fantastic, any other ideas on other wheels people mite think will look good on the cordoba, its having a respray in 6weeks so will look fresh and clean so would be good to have wheels before to work round for any arch work i may need to do, thanx for helping guys

9" on the front? doubt that is possible as they will stick out too far. Suspension touches my TT Comps without spacers and the outside lip is already flush with the wings.
Doesn't matter what offset you have, if a 7.5" rim is touching the suspension and is still pretty much flush with the wing 9" will protrude by 1-1.5" without arch work. Strtched tyres might keep you almost legal, but they'll still protrude.
the reason your wheel touches the stut is because its the wrong offset, its offset in too far to what the correct wheels would be, ive already had the wheels on my car, didnt touch my strut and was still safely away from the arch, i work with cars every day so know what im talking about, ive run 8" wide before no problem and my younger brother had 9" wide all round on his seat arosa and the only time it caught on the front was when doing 95mph round a corner on the nurburgring, were going again in his ibiza in 3 weeks so ill let you know if the fronts catch the front of that, ill get him to post pics of his cupra r if you like so you can see how well it sits
8" will work "just" but 9" is wider than the arch. My wheels offset doesn't make any difference to the width of the arches. But I'm not going to bother arguing anymore.
However if the wheels are in line with both your offset means squat. Changing the offset doesnt make your arches wider 
no offense, but i run 7J fronts (loads of room to strut, and arch) and 8J rears (about 10mm until inline with arch, and not much space to strut)
so i agree with icecavern, without arch work you will struggle to get 9J all around!
do some arch work though, then would look sweet
are they schmidt ML monoblocks or splits?
i personally like a staggered look, always looks sweet as most FWD cars have shorter rear tracks, so then fills the gap and looks more aggressive

could see it theoretically fit the front with coilie's on but i can't see you getting any sensible sort of room for error to be honest with ya
just measure horizontally from the strut to the wings edge and work offset out from hub after but the rears gonna be the tighter one i reckon, hell they start touching at 7.5J at normal height on some rims

cant see how you can laugh when its your wheels that touch the struts, ha ha, if people read the start of the thread i do say im having the car painted so need the wheels before i do it so i can do any nesacery arch work, and for the other point, FACT, my brothe is running 9" wide all round lowered around 85mm on weitec coilovers, no arch work been done what so ever and it does not catch on the front, rears do with bad potholes or with people in the back but other than that its perfectly fine
