Re: RobDon's Leon - near to calling it done!

Don't know much about the THS ones, they sounds pretty good though, good reviews of them. I'm sure they'll be alot better than the street density mounts I had on as they pretty much fell apart within 3000 miles.

Once I receive the track density mounts and sell them, I may well go for a set of the THS ones.

Rob I think tufftybloke has the THS mounts fitted to his car. You could probably drop him a line and find out if these mounts are good.

I fitted mine yesterday Rob so although I can't give a long term review I can say first impressions are very good.

My dogbone mount is a powerflex one and very stiff so I used to get quite a bit of vibration through the bulkhead with the other 2 top mounts standard....with the top 2 changed to THS the vibrations have reduced and the overall feel is much better.

Also I used to get a lot of movement, so much that my IC pipe used to touch the sound deadning on the bonnet, I marked the pipe with paint last night and it no longer touches so there obviously doing there job.

Track density mounts are here now, still not sure whether to fit them or not:

The track density 80 durometer rubber feels VERY stiff compared to the street mounts, obviously they will eliminate almost all engine movement but will they transmit too much vibration?

Willie told me the front bush on the track density dogbone mount is quite soft but the rear bushes are hard, so I have ordered the Superpro void fill bush kit to stiffen up the front bush:

"This fantastic little product is what we call a void filling insert. The standard engine steady bush has casting holes left in it, these inserts from SuperPro have been designed to snugly fit into these holes minimising engine flex under acceleration. This greatly improves engine response, without causing harsh vibrations which other Polyurethane manufacturer's products can do."

You've got nothing to loose Rob, fit the new mounts and sell them as new if you don't like them. If you don't try them you'll never know. Those inserts look cool.

Rob,

I've been running a INA Track density Transmission mount, INA Street density Engine mount and INA Track density DBM (perfected by me :)) this doesn't give ANY vibrations.

I know for a fact that a single track density engine mount would be easy to shift ;)

See what you think of this set up.

then all you have to do is sell:

- a Track density engine mount ;)

- a street density transmission mount

- a what every DBM's you have left.

Well I took the plunge and fitted both the track density mounts this morning. I went out for a drive and I have to say ....................... I like them! :D Vibrations are fairly minor IMO and the noise increase isn't bad either, in fact I like it, my car sounds like it's got throttle bodies!!! They are easy to live with and nowhere near as bad as poly mounts like VF (which I've had before).

Nothing about these track density mounts is OTT, obnoxious or impossible to live with, far from it. Gearchanges are much improved too, solid and smooth, once I get the Superpro void fill bush kit the mount system will be complete.

Me too, I thought they'd be far worse than they are, not bad at all really (to me anyway). We'll see what my kids think next time they're in the car, I doubt the small increase in vibration and sound will bother them much. I'm going to raise the idle speed slightly to tune out the vibrations so nothing at all is felt at idle.

I have a replacement set of street density mounts coming which I can sell on and recoup the money I paid out for the track density mounts. I've sold the baffled sump and Sessanta tyres too.

sorry for the late response to this. You guys do realize that THS mounts are similar to what I sell right? Only difference is you are paying double for them?

Just thought I would make that very clear.

As for motor mount issues. I have this discussion almost daily with people all over the world. You can NOT have your cake and eat it too. There is no performance mount there that will give you an OEM like cabin feeling.
Performance mounts are called that for a reason. They transfer the energy from the engine and distribute it across the chassis (i.e. to the cabin). If you want a mount that will absorb most of the energy from the engine then it will not be a performance mount as it will be "sloppy" so pick your poison.

I try my hardest to sell people street density engine and trans and track density dogbone mounts. I am working on billet mounts with rubber rings but that takes time and that is a resource that I do not have. With the website, the ever growing company and the launch of over 200 products alone for JUNE it has literally been a zoo. Do you see me or any INA staff posting in my section recently? NO....everyone has a job to do so please If you are having problems with products you are purchasing from me then I need to know.I should not have customers/friends like Matthew pin pointing me to this thread to offer a comment.

Glad they're ok for you Rob. :)

I found zero engine movement and a marked improvement in handling.

Just out of interest how much are your mounts? half the price of the THS ones?

And how similar is similar?

The THS mounts can be had for as little as £143 inc Vat & delivery direct from THS. If the INA mounts can be had for £71.50 for a full set of 3 that's impressive!?
