Hey Guys!!

Three words to descibe my CC Phase 1 Map - WOW WOW WOW!!

I drove up to sunny Chesterfield last thursday afternoon to JBS AUTODESIGN to get the remap installed, upon arrival i was greeted very politely by Seb Hampson, those of you that have spoken/emailed him will know hes a sound lad!! He broke down how the map would be installed onto the car.

1. Car taken out by one of the guys to take readings of current car ecu settings etc.
2. Map then tweaked in order to take into account the cars individual capabilities and
strength
3. CC Phase 1 remap installed onto the ECU
4. Final road test to ensure safe installation of the map.

I was happy that the procedure was broken down for me, as in the past with other maps it wasnt. I was standing outside and just waiting in anticipation for the mapping to be done so i could get into it and feeeel the power! then Seb came out and spoke to me. At first i thought oh no whats wrong?? My MAF had failed, was causing car to hesitate in places and the readings taken were low to what they should be. So had that replaced... and that was that!!! Service from the guys at JBS was second to none and everything was fully explained to me!

The it was time to go! Wow i could notice the difference straight away. then from J29 to J21 on the M1 50mph av spd cameras! trust my luck ha! then the M69 was busy so didnt get to really open her up...

Then yesterday went out in the car and something did not seem right, it was hesitating between 5k - 6k, i got worried thinking ive had a new map AND MAF and still its hesitating in places, So I called Seb @ JBS and he said to pop it back there.

Anyways, today, the wife called me after she finished work and low and behold the LCR had broken down!!! I couldnt work out why..... got to her and straight away it hit me!!!

C O I L P A C K S !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Blasted things!! they used to go on my old mk4 golf 18Ts. Was advised to change all 4 . so bought them straight away.. and NOW>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

WHAT CAN I SAY BUT WOW WOW WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The car has COMPLETELY transformed! the power delivery is soooooo SMOOTH but yet so powerful !!! and the torque comes in just the right time and holds to the line, its amazing! You cant even notice any Turbo Lag, the powers just THERE on every gear change.

The Leon CR should have left the garage this way. And Custom Code have made this possible!! IF any of you are thinking of remaps, you WONT be disappointed aat all !!!
I would highly recommend Custom Code to anyone on here! Im usually quite fussy but i cannot fault JBS for the CC Map and their service!

As DOLBY says, all youll be thinking is "Why didnt i get this done sooner?"

Hey mate,

That sounds pretty amazing mine is booked to be done next week :)

Just a couple of questions:
1) Did you uprate you DV Spring to yellow?
2) How much did the coil packs and Maf set you back?

This is the one thing holding me back from getting the map, I just know all the usual stuff will go as soon as it's done. So best keep some spare cash for when that happens!!

HMMMM i thought i heard my name hahaha.

Hey Vin, good little write up there, and all the feelings you had, i had too when mine was done back in Aug 07 i think. The service was fantastic, but i never hung around. I went into Chesterfield for the day.

I had shed loads done to my car at the same time, and tbh im itching to get the mods to go for stage 2. The first time i planted my car with the new map i couldnt stop laughing too. I know everyone says how smooth the map is, but it is also very very powerful- to the point where you are doing silly speeds without even realising.

Have you noticed with the map that obviously there is more power in second and third, but the car seems to 'take off' in 4th? even with hardly any revs (2k) it just wants to shift. That was one of the first things i noticed...the power in 4,5 and 6 gears. 6th feels like 4th.

Anyways glad your happy with the map

regards

Hey Mandip! Who you gettin the map done from?? With regards to the spring it wont need changing to the yellow one as you're not going to be runing that much more boost. The MAF was 90 odd quid inc vat and fitting. i needed that on the day of the map as old one was failing causing the car to hold back and hesitate through the revs. After that it still didnt seem quite right. Was still hesitating a little and low and behold, that was a sign that the coilpacks were on the way out. then when the coilpack went yesterday (bro in laws a vw/seat mechanic) advised me to change all 4 as when one goes, they all start to go. Some ppl have them done straight after a map, as theres more demand from them when running more power. After fitting them, the car feels so much more alive and a hell of alot more responsive, and now she pulls like a TRAIN!! strong power and torque throughout the rev range all the way to the top!!! coilpacks were £100 from TPS in Coventry, they supply SEAT original parts at excellent prices!

Had the map done at 60k. The normal lcr clucth and dmassflywheel can handle the stage 1 right?

I'm interested in a CC remap. Was intrigued that you get some options/tweaking of a stage 1 to suit the car, I thought this was only for stage 2? Will this take things like Forge DV, air filters/induction, silicone TIP into account?

Also, I'd like to find a CC dealer near(ish) Aberdeen who has a rolling road, any suggestions?

After my remap james from JBS told me that he thought my car was very healthy. He asked me if it was ran on good fuel (optimax at the time) and i told him yes, he then proceeded to tell me that he could tell. He spent an extra amount of time 'tweaking' the car a little bit more...i was very lucky that day eh? :p

Hey Vin
Going to take mine to TotalVAG in Leighton Buzzard they are wicked guys, really helpful and really know there stuff. So I need another £200 or so just in case! Probably get it done in a couple of weeks then.
Keep us posted how you get on with yours, I really cant wait to get mine mapped now!

The mileage to go up north didnt bother me at all as i knew i would have plenty of fun on the way back....

TotalVAG are a very good place and greig will look after your car as he is a true enthusiast. Mandip i dont know if you realise but you will notice the car feeling quicker and quicker as the days go by as its the ECU learning the new map etc......mine for sure felt quicker as the days went on. Something to bear in mind.

Oh and while im on the subject there are a million other little mods you can do that will help the car along N249 bypass, debaffling the charge pipe, removing the fogs etc etc...get greig to do the N249 bypass for you while your there, he did mine for free!!!

Its good to take extra money with you, but i dont think you will need to though buddy

Hey there 8bit, Yes i was suprised too! JBS did say that the map was generic to a point, but then it is customed to how your car is running. Before the map is put onto the car, theyll take your car out first to take readings ie MAF, Boost pressure, timing etc, then slightly tweak the map to suit your car, hence the "custom" in Custom Code!...

Hey Dolby, you know what, i didnt even ask them lol, although i did ask beforehand on the phone and they did say that there would be a £55 + vat charge for the RR. I reckon you got it free as you spent a "whopper" with them!! haha

Mandip, yeah I would suggest about £200 spare will be good. You may need a new MAF, you might not. Some guys on here who have had Stage 1 Remaps changed the Coilpacks after their maps were put on. Helps I guess, avoids future coilpack failure. Theres more required from them with the increased power so they become more prone to failure. However, Its not compulsary to change them at the time of mapping. Hope this helps mate!
