Re: Dinky Dave's Ibiza Cupra 16v Track Project - Ready for Performance Car Action Day

as ive said before dave, it helps that you know how to drive it & drive it properly aswell! ;)

lol Took my old man on the same route this morning for a test drive to see if the water leak had been sorted plus I was chessed with missing a track session and I had him bricking it when I came out of a long right hander at 3 figures on the speedo :D

Re: Dinky Dave's Ibiza Cupra 16v Track Project - Ready for Performance Car Action Day

Like that one! Could use that on my Passat ;)

I'm more than chuffed with the car, it's transformed from the set up I had before and it's so much easier to drive and carry the speed through the corners than it's ever been.

Never driven round Coombe... but knackers the size of bowling balls wouldnt go amiss. No room for error at all there, mess up and your in the barrier

There were some lucky people today. There was a mazda mz5 that spun, came to stop in middle of track, then rolled back into the racing line.... was nearly collected by 3 cars. Lucky lucky boy.

Re: Dinky Dave's Ibiza Cupra 16v Track Project - Ready for Performance Car Action Day

Was that at Camp Corner? Saw a black car (can't remember what it was) spin out and then a Clio almost hit him and stopped off the track on the outside of Camp corner then a red MR2 came into it going towards the Clio and pulled right inches from the rear of the Clio.

Do have a few loons out on track but I'll admit I didn't a few silly things because some people just don't want to pull over when you catch them, way I look at it if they catch you then their lapping faster.... even if they can't overtake you on the straights.

The mazda incident was at quarry.. along with many others :funk:, including a guy in a silver vx220 who didnt deserve to take his car home tbh, silly driving.

I know the incident your on about though, the guy in the MR2 really did save his own ass, excellent reactions.

Re: Dinky Dave's Ibiza Cupra 16v Track Project - Ready for Performance Car Action Day

It's entertaining to which the track action but on the track isn't the best place to be, one days like these you got to spend 80% of you time on the mirrors to check for other people.

But tbh this is the biggest I've seen the show and the track maners were the best I've seen at this Action Day (but I don't mean it was good maners) just better than normal if you get that.

And I was expecting to get flagged for overtaking 2 cars on the left going through avon rise when I was coming around to lap them on my 3rd session

Re: Dinky Dave's Ibiza Cupra 16v Track Project - Ready for Performance Car Action Day

had a 10:00, 13:45 & 15:30 but missed the 10:00 session because I had to be towed home to repair the car then once I got up there I paid for a 16:30 session. Wanted 4 but pleased enough with 3 after the morning I had lol.

After the third session I had my brake fluid/handbrake warning light come on but the handbrake switch is okay and the brake fluid is fine lol.

Dave,
Hope you think I wasn't stalking you, I adored your car from a distance at combe and got some REALLY **** videos of your car on the flyby! I then "Somehow" met up with you on that long private road... You know the one that leads to the severn bridge where I mouthed "Your Car is ****ing awesome" and then proceeded to use that long stretch to see how quick your car was.

Considering my cars meant to be 225+ (Last dyno showed 250bhp) you left me for dust even in a straight line. 999KG? Epic
Its weird though, I lost all power at 120mph and I have no idea why :(

YOU need to come out with drives with Rebel motorsport!
Trust me you'd love it :)
Oh I was in the Silver MK4 Beeza (Cupra)

that's no problem fella! I was getting bored on the way home, wasn't going to play till I heard the turbo raw from ur exhaust when u booted it and don't worry I upset an S3 on the way to combe so u not alone :)

I'm pleased the car performed well and got noticed for it, was funny cause when I got there opened the bonnet to do a few checks and left it open people would walk by and taken no notice then session after session more and more people looked at it.

Will keep my eye out on rebel motorsport see what dates I could do.

Where abouts in South Wales Dave?
I turned off at Magor to grab some food from the parents house and to get rid of the horrific sunburn I had but I'm living in Cardiff! I've just put the car up for sale :)
Your car has inspired me to make something track worthy!

Your Ibiza is 250bhp?! How?? Petrol???? Even still that must be a bloomin good map to get it that high! I didnt think you'd done all that much to it?

And if your car lost power at "70mph" cos that's what the speed limit is ;), it sounds like it went into limp mode or hit a limiter of some sort!

Thats what I thought!
But the dyno never lies..... wait :cartman:
Its between 230 and 250, the last dyno shows 253.9bhp

Nah my car lost power at 120mph on a private road!
Eitherway it was kind of like the turbo turned itself off and it was Naturally aspirated, drop below 120 and it worked fine. I literally have no idea caused it, I'd expect limp mode to cut in and totally take the turbo out.

Limp mode will knock the turbo out until you start the car again....so couldnt have been that! No other ideas!!! :(

To be honest, I'm not that confident in the Map.
The cars up for sale, but If I do end up keeping it I'll probably get it remapped by someone else and have them test it to its top speed. (or atleast to above 120mph.)

Edit:
Sorry I'm diverting your Topic here dave.
