Re: RobDon's Leon - stronger engine mounts needed!

Bearing in mind your not going to track the car any more perhaps these are the best overall option.

As you say time will tell.

I feel tyres are a very personal choice that only you can tell if they are right for you or not

I agree Willie, some folks love a certain tyre yet others hate the same tyre on their car!

I've had Vredestein Ultracs before (the older version) a few years back and they were really good tyres, I'm sure I used them on a trackday too and they were great.

Re: RobDon's Leon - stronger engine mounts needed!

I received a new set of OE engine mount bolts from David at Sere (big thanks), in preparation for the track density mounts, which I hope arrive very soon as the street density mounts appear to have gone quite mushy causing a lot of engine movement. My spare stock mounts feel like they've got harder rubber in them!

I'm still tempted just to get a set of Vibra Technics mounts and sell the INA track density mounts when they arrive.

Rob considering you'll not be going on the track I'd stick with either street density INA or OEM mounts.
No point in suffering the vibrations if you cannot benefit from the positives.

DPJ noticed loads of vibration initially from the INA Track density mounts, I believe this settled down through time.

True, but I still need to reduce engine movement to safeguard the turbo, DP, manifold etc. from cracking or breaking. The street density mounts I already have appear to have gone very soft. I used to have VF mounts which were near solid, I'm sure the INA track density mounts are not as hard as them!

Might just stick the OE mounts back on for now and see how it goes.

 They'll never settle down. I mentioned to Rob that they are the single thing that stopped my car being a pleasant versatile drive.

@Rob- good decision on trackdays. Your car can't be all things. :)

Re: RobDon's Leon - near to calling it done!

Does anyone have the Vibra Technics 400M and 406M mounts fitted to their Leon? If so, what are they like for in-car vibrations?

Hey Rob, as mentioned earlier I have the 400M and 406M mounts which are also known as the FR - Fast Road mounts. These are fantastic and I can tell you for sure that you will not regret having them.

Bill's an appointed dealer for vibra-technics speak to him.

What about the THS ones Rob? or are these not up to the job?

I've just bought the main 2 THS ones for mine.

As well as refitting my OE engine mounts, I have refitted my OE sump and return line (which I had powdercoated and refurbished), the INA baffled sump is now up for sale in the accessories section. Now running Motul 300V 5W40 oil - smells amazing!

Im running Motul 15w 50 and it smells like bubble gum..

Thought I'd just add that theres a good reason as to why I'm using 15W 50, before Willie says anything about Why and asks for a scientific reason :D

You've goivem your scientific reason, it smells like bubble gum.
That's all we need to know and is a good enough reason for me:)

Yeah it smells brilliant, and my engine seems to be running smoother and quieter with it too - result! (although the OE sump does close off the flywheel area so maybe that has something to do with it too)

Don't know much about the THS ones, they sounds pretty good though, good reviews of them. I'm sure they'll be alot better than the street density mounts I had on as they pretty much fell apart within 3000 miles.

Once I receive the track density mounts and sell them, I may well go for a set of the THS ones.
