Cheers Jenk. F2 Stu is having the car for the weekend beginning the 9th to hopefully get the cage in.

Yeah I chopped the bonnet myself, hoping to get the other one fitted this sunday.

I ordered a final tyre for the MO's yesterday so I can run these for the BHP show on the 3rd of May. I also ordered some 15mm wheel spacers, and some decent jubilee clamps for the intercooler pipework as mine are getting a bit weak. I also popped into Halfords today and picked up some mesh to cover the cut out behind the number plate.

I know Stu has fitted a few and has done an excellent job, hence why I wanted him to fit mine. There is a picture of the pin on an earlier page.

Thanks Dave. I was when I was doing it, but got it into my head that it's only a bonnet and can be replaced easily if I messed it up.

A bit more work done on the car this week in preperation for the BHP Show on the 3rd of May.

The bonnet pins are now both fitted and functional. I've removed the old bonnet catch and pull. The oil temp guage is wired back in, but i'm considering moving the boost gauge down to the center console and the VEMS to the pillar mount. I've also meshed the cut out in the bumper, it looked a bit strange being completely open, but i'm not sure if i like it meshed either. I also painted the towing eye red (needs another coat!)

Without mesh:

And with:

The car is pretty much stripped out ready for the cage to be fitted, that will now be happening on the weekend beginning the 17th of April instead of the weekend before.

I've also fitted some 15mm spacers to the back today, not actually driven it yet but i'm guessing it's going to scrub quite a lot!

After:

I was hoping to give it a wash but it started to rain!

Looking good Martin but your bonnet pins are the wrong way.... but do look better the way you have them!

The theory is if the catch on the pin wasn't pushed down tidy and clipped in or it comes loose the latch will flip all the way open while driving and then the wind will catch the bonnet and flip it open!

I wanted them that way but the bodyshop refused to do it to cover their backs! But to be honest I can't see them ever coming loose themselves, specially when you have the lockable ones to!

I did think that, but they wouldn't fit the bonnet the other way!

Like you've said, they're lockable, and i've also set them up so you have to push the bonnet down a bit for the pins to release completely. The only time they won't be locked is when i'm out on track, and even then they'll be checked every time before i leave the pitlane.

The Ibiza is now at Stu's for the roll cage to be fitted. All being well, hopefully i'll be collecting it at some point on Sunday. Then i've got to make the decision of putting the door cards and trims back in, or leaving them out, selling the Recaro's and 2" harnesses, for some fixed back buckets and 3" harnesses.

My brother managed to pick up a silver tailgate at the local scrap dealer. It's got a few scratches but hopefully a bit of Scratch X will sort those out until I can get it re-painted.

Leave the interior out, caged cars look silly with door cards etc. Couple of carbon or ally sheets for the door cards and your sorted.

Burnt any of the sound deadening off yet? :)

Looking good!

Cheers Dave. All the sound deadening will be chipped off when I get it back.

I'm definately going to leave it stripped out for the time being, as i've got some bits that i need to sort out on the inside. I'm pretty sure it'll be getting carbon door cards and the interior painted.

with the sound deadining, your best to freeze spray it that tap it as it goes brittle and breaks off rather than warming and becoming a sticky mess

I've just been chipping it off with a hammer and screwdriver, seems to be doing the job but it's a slow process.
