The headlight washer doesn't sit flush with the bumper, one side is fine other sort of drops into the bumber a bit.

Good shout on the rattle, I'll give that a try on the way to work tomorrow :D

Hello

I have a creak/squeak comming from the front of the car when i pull away in first. Sounds like somone opening a creaky old house door really slowly.

ibizaSC-chris, did your car sound like an old creaky door opening really slowly.

Thanks

Richard

I have the exact same sound, it happens mainly under initial acceleration and when i touch the brakes alot (town driving).

i have my car booked in with the dealer this friday, did you get your creaking resolved? if yes which dealer are you with/location? i will use this if they don't sort it out.

Hi,

what kind of sound is it? is it like a creaking sound?

not long after getting my SC i heard some creaing noises under acceleration in first gear and if i was going over speed bumps etc... sounded like it was coming from the suspension, i took it to the SEAT dealer and it needed new gearbox mounts (replaced under warranty of course)

hope this helps.

Cheers

Chris.

i have the same problem, sounds like its from the front passenger side suspension. i'm booked in with the dealer this friday.
which dealer / location did you go to? i thought if i find and quote dealers that have resolved similar problems then i have some 'ammunition' so to speak if i don't get any joy this friday.

HI,

yes my noise kind of sounded like a door creaking (well a rubber door) and it was mainly under acceleration in first gear or going over speed bumps, mine sounded like it was actually coming from the fron suspension, and i thought it was suspension related, but it was actually the gearbox mounts.

I got mine fixed a Specialist Cars SEAT in Aberdeen and it was fixed perfectly, hopefully you guys get it resolved.

Chris.

Hi Guys,

Some of you might want to check the dashboard screws in the fuse box area. I have a 55 plate FR TDI and after a while I noticed a squeaking noise coming from the dashboard.

Hadnt noticed that one of the screws had been drilled right through at some point and that this allows a bit of play on the dashboard......

I haven't had a chance to book it in yet, it keeps comming and going so am half hoping it will resolve itself.
Will be interested to see what the dealers find on yours Friday.
If it persists i will get it checked out.
Thanks

i took my car to seat last friday about my creak in the steering column...they couldnt find anything...

even worse they said they would put my private plate on.... basically on the rear they have been so thick that they havent used the original drill holes and have drilled new holes off center so now the numberplate is off center and looks wank...i rang them up yesterday and went quite mental at me and i fowarded them a pic of it so see what they will do..

do you think they will replace the plastic bit in the middle or just fill it (even though its just black plastic.)

I think i've worked out why the garages can't find the cause of the steering column squeak.

After leaving my car out in the sun the other day at work, when driving home there wasn't a single squeak from the steering column, this piqued my interest.
Then, a day of driving the car about, it was squeaky at first, but by midday, i was aware that there wa no squeaking.

So my suspicion is that it only squeaks when it's cold. By the time you've driven it to the garage, it's been sat around there for a while, and then they go driving it out, it's warmed up and theres no squeak for them to find.

Glad i've videod mine so I can show them i'm not going crazy, but it is interesting why it'd squeak when cold but not when warm. Possibly a grommet or something that once warm expands/flexes that little bit more stopping the squeak? dunno,

any ideas techie?

i have just got back from SEAT, luckily the creak was as loud as ever (usually, my luck is that any noise disappears when i pull into the dealership car park!!) and both technicians agreed that the noise was there. they said that it isn't from the suspension and it has to be booked in so they can take the dash off and investigate.

i did tell them of your issue, ibizasc-chris but i got the impression that they want to find it themselves!!
so its looking like a week with a courtesy car then, sweet......

I have my car booked in this Saturday at SEAT in braintree. They said they would sit in the car and try and listen to the noise. Then i will book in a date to get it checked properly although it will probably be 2 weeks until i can have it booked in properly.

Also i will have to pay £10 a day to be insured on their courtesy car even though my car is only 4 weeks old!!!!!! Thats a £3650 per year policy, i bet it pays for the bubbly at Christmas, reminds me of a Certain Bank Advert!!!

I think the door-card noise is caused by the grill bit over the speaker vibrating against the honeycomb support structure behind it.

Not sure, It seems to be a design flaw rather than a fault i think.
It looks like the grill section is part of the door card, just with holes punched in it, and then there's a honeycomb supporting structure behind the grill, presumably to protect the speaker.

here it is from behind (picture courtesy of techie)

.
Probably best getting a dealer to sort it out, but if it's the design flaw I think it is, will the dealer be able to do much...?

Alex, hows your car, is it fixed yet?

I had mine at the Braintree SEAT Dealers on saturday, at first he thought it was the CV joint gaiters making a noise as they are new, spayed the gaiters with lubricante but did nothing. Got it booked in for the Wed 14/04/10, not sure how long they will have it for though.
