I'd lighten the existing bonnet by removing as much reinforceing webbing as possible, just don't get some bird to sprawl all over it for photographic perposes!

That's my plan. Some of it is going to have to come out to fit the catches anyway.

That's £250 better spent elsewhere on mine at the moment. I'll just get the angle grinder out!

£250 is a fair wedge, I've got a fresh box of cutting disks in the garage

Where you get the catches from Martin? Lockable?

Many thanks to Stu for the heads up, Jason for holding it for me, and Ben for driving as the gearbox went on the van yesterday!

I was lucky to get it :)

The plan is to get it all fitted, then worry about the colour after. I think the Mo's will eventually end up the same colour as the Super T's anyway so the cage will more than likely be painted anthracite.

Todays Progress:

Ben and myself set about fitting this:

Picture008.jpg

The INA one I had on the car was pretty hard to get off, but we eventually got there! The JBS one is now on (after a bit of fiddling) and i'm happy.

We also fitted a new inner CV boot (been on the list to do for months but i kept forgetting about it!), a rear towing eye cover (mine fell off somewhere), and i set about moving my gauges around. I'm now going for a single pillar mount instead of the double, reason being that when the cage is in it would completely obstruct the second gauge. I've now moved my oil temp gauge to the center console, and have taken out the volt meter. I will eventually put a oil pressure gauge in the center console too.

Another small update:

I thought I'd have a go at fitting my aero catches today. After a lot of measuring and checking, I got one put in, hoping to get the other fitted next week.

I just need to fit the pin onto the slam pannel and it's sorted.

What are they for? I've seen them on a few track cars and never known what theyre for.

Progress on the cars looking good :D

They are used to lock the bonnet down. Once the other one is fitted, i'll remove the standard bonnet catch and just use these.
