Replacement Diesel Cupra Exhaust

Hi everyone,

the rear hanger on the back box of my 04 Diesel Cupra brooke off the other week, I tried a repair by welding it back on, however it has come away again around the weld so it looks like I'll have to replace it.

I phoned round various garages and motor factors the other day and have become very confused by the different stories I've been told about it, so I'm hoping someone in here can clarify things for me.

So to what I've been told so far;

first garage looked up ttheir system and found a part and gave me a price £115, good start.

Second garage I called then told me that there were 3 options for the rear section of exhaust on my car and it dependeed on what was fitted at the time. Only way they could tell was to have a look but it would either be £148 or £161 depending.

third garage said that it was a manufacturer only part which they could get but would be a few days and cost £408.

I finally phoned the VAG specific garage I normally take my car to in Edinburgh, who also said it was manufacurer specific but they could do it for £300 or for a little more they could fit a full Milltek exhaust.

Which if any of these stories are true, and therefore what am I going to have to spend?

Any pointers greatly appreciated.

thanks,

Dom.

if you dont want sports exhaust, take the first garages quote and hold them to it.... once quoted they have to honour it.

what he said.

i had a cat back system fitted to mine last week and i was originally quoted £365 but then when it came to paying i was only charged £225 but i wasnt complaining! :D

Thanks for the replies. Since I was last on I've visited my dad and we managed to make up a bracket to hold the back of the exhaust up, so problem solved. Then once I've got the money, I'll have a sports exhaust fitted.

Cheers,

Dom.
