LC or LCR... That is the question!

I'm now wondering if it would be more beneficial to get a 180 and modify it which would take more time and money in the long run but would mean i could probably get a tidy example next week!

The question is, even though the engines are different how does a Stage 2'd LC stand up to a Stage 2' LCR. In other words, would it be possibly to tune them to similar levels?

I've got a real penchant for the Cupra 'R' recaro's.... but the budget for an 'R' is slipping away and with moving across the country this could decrease with some rapidity.....

Depends how far you want to go with it. LCR is far better in standard form. But if you wanted to modify it heavily, everyone ends up slinging out all the stock parts that come with the LCR that dont come with the LC, making it much better sence to get an LC IMO. Not to mention the LC is much better looking!

Question: Are you planning on going Big Turbo? If so LC! I actually quite like the facelift bumpers... almost as much as the LCR

Lcr , no point in getting an lc if your going to get it mapped etc , your spend the same amount of money and end up with less power lcr has brembos etc and there cheap now

The only thing to be mindful of is service item costs on the LCR

The cars are getting cheaper, but 'consumable' items like Brake pads, Brake discs & tyres are not 'great' value.

Some of the cheaper LCR's are getting either very leggy, or have had their maintenance skimped on, so just bear that in mind if you buy as well.

wish id spent the extra £400 the day i bought my FR and bought the LCR and said to hell with the insurance and mpg.

Your point is a very good one too m0rk, even looking for one now and there are some great 'looking' examples but finding one that hasn't been driven across the globe is proving difficult for the old budget. That and it's starting to burn a hole in my pocket, hence my queries.

I love the LCR looks, although having only driven a PD110 i couldn't comment on the handling/performance aspect of it, but i would assume it would be much the same but more 'responsive' with a petrol. (not trying to fire up the petrol/diesel war here by the way.

Insurance or to buy? Insurance for me would be about 1k on an LCR or 700-800 notes on an LC. To buy, my budget is 6k (maybe 6.5k) but i've seen LCR's going for 4.2 with minor Cat D's, up to 11k. The higher the money the less miles and better condition i'm finding. I could pick up an LC for 5k ish in the same condition and mileage as an LCR for 8k..... hence my bind at the moment.

And Adam, if you're about on Sunday i've got a mate i need to go and see who lives in Beccles so i could pop over then if that's any good for you?

If you have ur heart set on a lcr then get one, I was exacally the same and bloody gladd I chose to wait a little longer and get a lcr. If you don't you will be saying "I love my lc," but in the back of ur mind you will always think, "I should have bought a lcr!" The same if you see a lcr go past... Gutted

remap
fmic
3"exhaust with sports cat
cold air intake

If your lucky you could make 240bhp

LCR with remap alone can achieve 265bhp

Factor in the expense of sourcing,fitting LCR body kit and it appears to be a no brainer to me.Plus you've still got sh1te brakes

The choice is yours but it should'nt really be that hard to be honest

So the general concensus is to save for an LCR.... a pain as i can see a move of jobs in the next few months.... but still i can see a loan from the old dear looming on the horizon. The hunt will continue! Now to try and find that good deal!

TBH for me i much prefer the look of the LC. The brembos LCR's come with are ok, but if your serious you will swap them anyway. The interior is nicer, but its not breathtaking. The only thing left is the BAM engine, better internals and twintercooled, which most owners rip out and put in one large one. And if you want to go for more power, you have to open up both engines and swap for the same parts. For those reasons I personally don't think the lcr is all that.

Out of curiosity i wonder how much i could pick up a BAM engine? Do they drop straight in by any chance?

And Billyhas.... i've just realised why this decision is becoming so difficult..... mainly due to my budget but because i'm changing jobs and this would be ALL the money i have saved up over the past 2 years for this going on a car, leaving me with nothing if something goes wrong on it... there is also the time factor of moving to Bristol, and the logistics of that too, then the renting of somewhere possibly. So many things to consider!

Can pick up a block for £300. YOu could pick up everything you needed to do a conversion for under 1k easily.
