Noises in the cockpit

Hello All,

I have a noise as if a little plastic thing is moving inside the steering wheel, i only hear it when i'm not turning the cd player on.
I also hear a slight vibration from my window when the volume is loud.

Is this normal ?? Does anyone know how to check the steering wheel for this noise ?

is it a high pitched noise when you go over bumps? not a rattle more like a creak?

Hmmmm not sure! I can hear something from steering wheel when i go over bumps but my old polo did that...

my seat creaks, my window catches

not a high pitched noise, it's a creak or as if something loose that's why making that noise & i only hear it if the steering wheel is in a steady position, but when i steer i dont hear it.

yeah mine goes into seat tomorrow for the day to be looked at so will see what the problem is if any...


there is something deffo loose in the somewhere be it bushes or just maybe a loose bolt...

could be anything as small as a washer hitting a nut maybe

Have the same squeek - was hoping it would settle down, but just done 400mile trip & still squeeking right in front of the driver somewhere, be interested in how you get on at the dealers

Seems it's a common fault. Keep us posted on what they find/do and if it helps your car Daryld as i've had no luck on them finding/sorting it on two separate occasions.

At a guess, the noise isn't coming form your window when it's loud, it's coming from the speaker grill, crank it up til the noise starts then press lightly on the grill, my money's on it stopping as soon as you do.

Mine has the same squeek.

mine has a different squeek, well the car has alot of sounds, i even find a strange sound after turning the AC on for a while, as if the pitch of the engine is higher

mine squeaks when i hit the accelerator, i tried to trace it it seems to come from the heater unit under the console, the funny thing is i cant hear any thing when the window is open.

Night flight, thats the exact same squeek I have....Mines not settled, it's going in for some warranty work soon so I think i'll mention it then.

Make sure they listen for it when it's cold. Once mine's warmed up the squeak goes.

NO mate not the diesel the 1.6 petrol.

i am so frustrated, once i was so angry i took apart the dials panel, thought it was behind it but no... i think it is some were in the heater or the air vent near the windscreen. (seems to come once from there or from down below the dash).

Mine makes sound when it is below zero and is parked outside for a long time. When it is warmed up, the sound goes away.

sound became louder inside the steering wheel, also both sides now from inside the doors or the seatbelts are making sounds which i can't sort it out
