Sound System and Headunit Question

Hello,

Is there anyone that can help me !
I've had my ibiza for a while now and i want to put a sub in it.

Can i take the headunit off and run it from the back of there?
or
Can i attach it to the rear speaker wires as the sub/amp im getting has high level inputs? (I have the 3 door model)

Ive been searching the forum but cant find a guide or anything like that.
Anyone have one?

Any help would be appreciated!!

you cant run a sub from your rear speakers... you have to run it from the headunit. well i have had to in my 106... you will probably need to take the headunit it and check the back of it to see if its got the plugs for the sub, easiest thing to do. or could always take to halfords, they would be able to tell you if you can or cant.

Does anyone know or has anyone put a sub in their ibiza using the standard head unit?
And how do you get it off! lol

Dont waste your time with the headunit : there is no sub out plug
You need to use the rear speaker cables, split them, use an adapter to convert high output to low and plug that into the sub after you get a cable to the back with current (straight from battery with a fuse)

Yeah the sub i am getting has got the high to low converters built in.

Any idea on how to get to the speaker wire?

when you run a sub off of the rear speakers... the quality is no were near as good. in my opinion. if your really wanting a sub then just buy a new headunit. as your goin to have to run the subs power cable to your car battery... damn thinking about it, its so much effort for a sub! haha

Is the quadlock connector behind the head unit then?
And have you got a picture of which one it is?

Have you got any links to what i need because im not to sure.

it probably wont be the same connector but im tipping its somthing simmler..
for the mk 4 i had a sub running off the original hu
had to buy a adapter for it tho

plugs in to back of the headunit and gives you the preouts and remote wire.

You cannot run a sub without an amplifier (sound quality will be pathetic without a power source) I bought a RCA converter can't remember exact name, I paid 15 quid but you can probably get it cheaper on Internet

The only reason you would split the rear speaker wires is if you were only putting in a couple of 6x9s or component speakers the sub would not work as there is nt enough power
