PCV removal - can this be done? YES! removed + catch tank fitted

I understand this part.........
1. tee off from crankcase,one end to catch tank,one to the pipe that goes down,and last pipe to the catch tank.
2. pipe from other port on catch tank straight into accumulator valve that sits on top of the TIP
but where is this brake pipe that needs blanking off:confused:

After looking closer at Jase's pic, is the BRAKE PIPE that you mention needs blocking off,the one that comes out the side of the inlet mani and goes to a y'shaped joint(has got the hex bolt in it in the picture) what do you do with the rest of that pipework if you've blocked it off (obviously remove it )but up to which point and does that end requires blanking off also:blink:

All you need to do is remove the "Y" shaped bit and conect the pipe directly to the manifold.

I get that bit Phil,but if you look at the picture,its the other "Y" shaped pipe,probably 8-10MM diameter, coming off the side of the inlet manifold,one side of the "Y" has a bolt blocking it off,that's the bit i'm confused about,is that the pipe people are mentioning about blocking "the brake pipe"?

I would love to know if this guide could be used on the LCR, does anyone know? lately i have noticed oil build up around the pipes under the maniflod and would love to remove them all in and replace with customer pipework and a catch can.

Fairly easy on LCR. Where the black mushroom is on the LCR this where the catch can would go. Just need to replace hoses to connect to catch can and thats. Easy!

Yeah i read its easy enough to install a catch can, but i am wondering about the PCV system, especially the pipes under the maniflod that are prone to failure.

Thats the "Y" shaped pipe i am talking about the one with a bolt in it, i cant remember where it went :whistle: but as i said i removed mine altogether.

Hi Phil,have done the catch tank and pipework,i'll post pics up,just going back to this brake pipe that you blocked off mate,what are the benefits of doing this?

I have an AUQ.

Where does the hose go that forms the long vertical stem of a T?
Does it connect to one of the two nipples on the left hand under side of the manifold?
Or does it connect to the block above the oil filter housing?

15mm or 19mm hoses. which is the best size to use?

I removed the lot....just make sure that your catch can can breath, or you will burn oil.

Ha, yeah tell me about it, i thought that the top outlet blew and the lower one sucked, maintaining a flow through the catch tank :no: the amount of smoke that came out was unbelievable i had to go and change my trousers,[B)] i thought the engine had blown:help: but it didn't take long to realise what i had done, the pressure just blew the oil past the rings, at least no damage done i only drove 200 yards.

i did the same! It sucks oil through on over-run. I thought my rings were shot with the amount of blue smoke that came out :lol:

that large pipe connects to the top of th oil filter housing... bloody lot of oil around there mate... definate split somewhere in there
