rear jet washer problem

Hi all

Just the other day I used my rear jet washer/wiper on my 04 R and the wiper works fine and the water comes out but where it used to shoot stright up the window, it now effectively follows the wiper arm. So the water jet is moving back and forth with the arm.

Had a little look and obviously the jet nozzle is moving in the wiper housing, I've taken off the little plastic cover and tried to tighten the bolt but it didn't make any difference.

Anyone else had this problem?? is something seriously broken? or am I tightening the wrong bolt?

Any help would be really appreciated.

Thanks all

I had this on my Mk IV golf. I ended up taking out the wiper motor, stripping it down and cleaning up the pipe through the linkage. Took an hour or so to do. The leon is the same set up.

Hi Mate

Good links thanks, So it seems I have a broken brass linkage.

I couldn't really find much info into how to get the rear boot lining off and how you replace the broken bit. Is it self explanatory or should I send it to the garage?

Thanks again

The boot lining is held on with clips and also a screw in each of the grab handles. The clips break quite easily so be careful when pulling it off. If you brake the clips or the boot liner itself it will rattle like hell afterwards!

thanks for the info,

I was out today talking to my mechanic mate (mostly does audis) he said I can pull as hard as I like since the clips are designed to break and I can get some new ones from Seat for a couple of quid, is this true?? or are they fixed in and if I break it ive got the boot trim from hell???

Secondly how do I "be as carefull as possible" and tips from people who have actually taken it off??

Again thanks for the help.

I personally wouldn't pull as hard as you like... You could break the trim or even just where the clips fit in. Gently prise the trim off bit by bit.

You probably can buy new clips but I'm unsure if they can be easily fitted. I broke one when re-fitting my trim, it rattled like hell so off it came again to get the loose clip out.

Take off the light covers on each side remove screws in grab handles, and get a long screwdriver in there on the clip and pull down to separate and then feed your hand round pulling down carefully till the clips pop off.

I do this every time i have removed the trim in the boot and never broke a thing.
