I just had a call from the dealer I'm buying my 04 LCR from. He's had it checked over the last couple of days prior to me picking it up this weekend.
He's said that the Convenience Unit seems to be shot after the battery on the car died and now isn't responding on VAGCOM properly and won't recognise the key fob code for central locking etc.
So I thought I could still go pick it up as I can just use the key to lock/unlock and still drive it, while I'm waiting for him to get a replacement CU (which he's already ordered), as long as it's still driveable then no problem.
But then he also said that the fuel filler cap release is tied in with the CU problem somehow and it can't be released manually, so I could use the key to get into the car and drive it, but wouldn't be able to fill it up with fuel.
Does that sound right?? The guy seems pretty straight up to me, but I've no idea if what he's telling me is true or not as I don't know enough about LCRs.
Admittedly, he's said the problem seems to be a bit intermittent, but he doesn't want to give me the car when he knows there's something up with it that might cause me problems.
I'm just getting frustrated as it now looks like I have to wait another week to get the car while the part is delivered from Germany.
