I really like the rear diffuser, but I am not going to be buying a new exhaust to match it. There was also a diffuser on the PVW Leon for the single left hand exit exhaust that looked good, but it cost as much as a small island.

Regardless, trying to make your car look better/faster than it is aint at all cool

Roof spoiler is different in fact looks more like the aero kit rear spoiler. Most stuff for industry is mass produced to make it cost effective.

I don't think some of the modifications required add up to peanuts though somehow, most of us with modified Mk2's know it didn't cost us a packet of dry roasted to get to where we are.

there is very little differance that i can see, infact what performance upgrades are their over the cupra?

The roof spoiler is different, having had the benefit of standing in front of it and looking at it with my own eyes.

My point wasn't about the performance specifications, the point was did you pay peanuts to modify your Cupra I know I certainly didn't.

The R is a product at the end of the day, from my point of view if you already own a Cupra then its unlikely to be a big prospect. Those that don't wish to risk it or neither have reason to modify it will look at it as the most powerful production SEAT.

Not all customers go to their nearest tuner, or even their nearest peanut tuner. [B)]

i was more on about the black spoiler

To be fair the black spoiler on the Focus is more like an ironing board. We know this because one happened to drive in to the car park when we were taking our pictures. :D

This was chosen simply because the piano black trim has become linked with the Cupra brand.

The kit has been available for years, as you can tell from the pre facelift boot on the image above.

It's the BTCC Ref Sport, sorry I meant K1 rubbish all over again.

The spoiler on the LCR is just a standard FL cupra one, and the diffuser on the LCR is lifted taken yet again from parts bin. I was just showing that the diffuser has been available for a long time, and the spoiler as fitted is just the btcc one as the pic is from a pre FL.

But where does any of it cost peanuts. :) If your in the market for a Cupra R, then you get one if your not you don't. Pointing out the fact that aftermarket parts are being used on a production model is to be fair pretty pointless. :D

Speaking as a Cupra owner the R doesn't interest me because there isn't enough on offer to make me change, but if I was in the market for a new car having not owned a Cupra then it possibly might. But then I'd only have to start spending peanuts again to make it as quick as mine. :D

Take the fact that everyone seems so fast to rush off and want to buy a Ford or a Renault based on the news the Cupra R isn't a 2.5 TFSI with AWD :D

I find it funny because I wouldn't part with £25k to buy a slower more expensive car just because the R isn't everything we hoped for.

The new car is marketed as a product in its own right, not as a product to be modified by its owners. Just like the K1 was marketed, just like the Cupra was marketed and just like every product they produce. If you want to modify it then you do, if you don't then you don't but SEAT don't have a box saying we must market this car to the people who bought our Cupras and modified them :D

Its exclusive in its market, because the parts come as standard on a UK car, and they don't on a Euro car. Hence Exclusive!

i agree to an extent but at the end of the day seat have produced a car that is supposed to be top of the range, but as far as i can see it costs 4-5K more but doesnt have 4-5K of extra spec over the cupra, infact it doesnt even come with xenons for 25K, all i can see that they have done is put a badge on, a few differant colours, new wheels and a new defuser, i cant see anyone choosing an R for this amount extra...

Knowing me i am probebly missing something but not sure where the extra £3590-£4590 is going

My "beef" with the cupra R as such, and its nothing personal but I just dont see how SEAT can justify a 5k premium over the standard cupra, but it doesnt actually look like you are getting anything for your money.

I could make a cupra R rep for less than what SEAT are selling them for, is my point with this thread. ;)

There will be a review done by the 3 big bosses on here soon enough.

For what its worth, mechanically at least, the difference on the Cupra over the Cupra R is not that large with regard to the engine.

This post was stickied in the MK2 Leon FAQ section, but was unstickied for some reason. It lists several key components on our Cupra, the facelift Cupra and Cupra R. Note the turbo, flywheel, injectors and several other key engine components are shared on all 3. Over the FL Cupra, the Cupra R only has one or two different parts notably the intercooler, exhaust and gearbox.

Clicky

Like Z, no way I would trade in my Cupra for approx £11k or whatever its worth, and fork out an additional £14k for an R as its just not worth it to go in to a slower car with pretty much the same form factor and parts list.
