The bottom ball joints are located in oval holes Willie; allows a bit of adjustment.

Looking good Dave. R1R's are getting fantastic reviews on all sorts of cars, impressive stuff!
LOL
Cheers Danny, I've seen the slots, just thought -1.5 degrees would be out with the adjustment but depends on how low Dave is running

Is my maths right - 1.5 degrees would put an 18" wheel with 225/40 tyres out by about 16mm bottom from top?

Overall diameter is 637mm so 637*sin1.5 = 16.67mm
So yes your maths is right, Dave :)

Yup, but this is only a result of the mounting points. The wheels only follow what there bolted to, they don't individually effect this angle.
This is only measured off of the wheel as its easier than measuring the shock/hub/wish bone angle.

Like some of the alignment places do this straight off the hub

But if 1.5 degree negative camber is induced using the mounting points, there will be 1.5 degrees negative camber on the wheel > previous calc abt 16mm difference top to bottom is correct.

Dropped the car off for MOT at lunchtime. An hour later, I thought to myself, 'I never checked the horn!'.

Called past the garage later this afternoon. Failed..................... horn. So my novelty horn finally bit the dust after passing three MOTs. :( Car sorted now anyway, yet again, absolutely no problems over emissions with the 100 cell cat. [B)]

I spent this afternoon in the sunshine getting the car ready for VW Spring Festival at Santa Pod and some strip action. Seats out. Gave the car a thorough going over, timing set up, Water methanol tank topped up etc. Even had time to wax it and it looked good. :D

Loaded up for an early morning start tomorrow morning and a 190 mile drive. I decided to pop out to fill up with Vpower to save time in the morning. Drove the two miles to the Shell station on the A1. Filled up and paid. I went back to the car, turned the key and the engine briefly turned over - but not enough to start it. Tried again - nothing at all. Dash lights didn't dim on turn of the key....... no starter motor.

I managed to push it off the pumps, then phoned the recovery service. I dug my towing eye out ready while I waited - and 40 mins later the truck turned up. As he had no towbar or rope, we decided to try and push start it. Success - so I drove it home and straight up on ramps.

I'm absolutely gutted as I was really looking forward to tomorrow.
