Exhaust pressure sensor

Hi all, iv been trawling the forums and google to see if anyone has managed to fit an exhaust pressure sensor themsleves to an FR TDI rather than taking it to a main dealer. Noone seems to have done this as far as i can see. Iv had nothing but problems with the local Seat dealerships and VW wont touch it. If anyone has any advice or knows where i can find a tutorial I'd be very grateful.

My engine management light came on around 7pm one evening, and after calling SEAT assist out (who confirmed it was the exhaust pressure sensor), Camberley SEAT Service Centre had replaced mine at no cost under warranty by lunchtime the following day. It took them a couple of hours to do, so I'm not sure it's an easy job...

Got the sensor changed with no probs. Its a black plastic module with 2 pipes coming from it at the top lefthand side of the engine bay just behind the plastic engine cover. Part No. 076906051A from seat. Takes about 15 mins £45 and only requires a torx driver and some long nose pliers and a friend with a VAG computer and 100 times less stressful than dealing with the local seat dealership

Hi, what's the use of VAG-COM in this case? Isn't the sensor completely passive?

TIA,

Stefano

I see, sorry for dumb question and thank you. I should be able to erase it even w/o VAG COM with my scan tool.

Have a nice weekend,

Stefano

Just to know,
the scanner built in in ST3 reported a 1139 DTC and not the faulty exhaust pressure sensor stated by skoda (in my case). I'm just wondering if the sensor might eventually need to be cleaned, only...

Follow up...

Hi there,
just to confirm that the aforementioned sensor has been successfully changed in warranty by my garage, w/o hassles and troubles.

Yours was the correct information!!!

Thanks a lot.

Its also worth noting that alongside the pressure sensor there is an updated ECU code and really should be put through a forced regeneration so really needs to go to a dealer to be done.

Will a independent vag garage not do that?

I have a remap stage 1 will this be wiped clean?

An independant wont upgrade the ECU with the latest version, and yes it would wipe your remap.

Thing is the standard code has been modified to help with the pressure sensor/DPF issues as part of on going development.

I've heard that this update reduces the power output, is this true?

Had 2 quotes for the exhaust pressure sensor fitted.

1) 109 pounds which was the garage who charged me 52 for a diagnostic check robbing gets.

2) 78 pound fitted. Asked them when I rang hoe much for a diagnostic check they said 15 pounds so does seem like the 1st grage had me off.

They both told me it costs 45 something pounds for the part itself

Anyway booked in for sat at 9am

These are both independent volkswagen garages.

Just to let you know had it done at the place aboive 78 pound fitted and so far so good no engine light has come on and no 1000rpm.

Happy with the service so far. Cheaper than the other price as they were 109 and proll seat stealers would be 150 plus.

Kept my remap on as well which is good.
