i don't think that the autoleads gives a switched live from the loom, on my Golf I had to run a live and switched live to the battery and light switch

I think I originally bought the Autoleads connector but had issues with it so ended up sending it back and getting the Connects2 one then everything just worked!
they arent useless, they do these adapters so you can just take a feed for the ignition off another accessory, its entirely down to the user how they do it,if your really lazy you could just attach the ignition to the permanent and just turn on and off via the radio
s2ttb you need both, the first bit generates ignition, speed pulse, parking brake, reverse signal, illumination, etc and the 2nd is the vehicle specific part, this is more for those with satnav/dvd/etc
if your not bothered buy pc2-75-4 or the connects 2 equivalent then the igni-gen and wire that in
Only problem I came across was the lack of space behind the head unit for all the wires. Ran out of time last weekend so it is currently sitting 0.5cm proud of the dash!
Hi there,
I'm Steffen from Stuttgart Germany and I want to ask you some questions about the cooperation between the Headunit, the integrated FSE and your steering wheel.
1:
So if you change the headunit and adapt it via a CAN BUS adapter to the car you adapt also the remote keys from the steering wheel to your new headunit! correct?
--> this is the cause why your buttons like higher and lower volume, next and previous title etc. are working...
The CANBUS links to the screen beside your fuel gauge but you need a separate adaptor to work the steering wheel controls. I bought a Connects2 CANBUS adaptor and it came with a separate box to control the steering wheel - a headunit specific patch cable £4 plugged into this box to link steering wheel buttons to the headunit.
2:
But the normal CAN BUS Adapter also tries to adapt the rest of the remote keys on your steering wheel to your new headunit! correct?
--> so in my opinion your BT FSE keys on steering wheel should be connected via CAN BUS adapter to your new headunit and not any further to your old BT FSE device unter the seat?
The bluetooth phone buttons on the wheel connect to the factory fit bluetooth unit under the drivers seat and is totally independant of the audio controls - the wiring is terminated in the additional blue or green connector (can't remember which one at the moment) that fits into the bottom of the CANBUS adaptor - the 2 wires (black and white) sends the phone audio to the car speakers via the headunit.
The blue and green connectors can be removed from the CANBUS as the wiring connectors will only work with the factory headunit - Unless of course the ZENEC has exactly the same connectors as the original headunit - not sure
3:
I ask all these questions because I'm thinking about to change my standart CD3 radio to an ZENEC NC2010. My whish is to have a perfect symbiose between my built in FSE and the Zenec Parrot FSE in the big touchscreen, but I've heard that the CAN BUS Adapter connects the steering wheel FSE buttons to the headunit and then it is not longer available to use the old built in FSE. Instead you have to use the ne Parrot FSE! For sure the Parrot FSE have more options etc. but to use this one from the headunit you have to set up a new microphone in the car etc and this is to much work i think.
Any ideas how it is possible to connect the parrot fse with the built in microphone? Is it the same way you did with the only ifference that you use the old FSE with yout steering wheel and I have to use the new FSE via CAN BUS Adapter ?
You can continue to use you factory fit Bluetooth system as long as you can get the audio into the new headunit (the black and white wires mentioned above) - At worst you will have to wire these into an AUX port and select AUX on the head unit when a call comes in. I have used an Alpine headunit with the Alpine interrupt box as shown at the start of this thread and it automatically mutes radio/pauses ipod/CD and plays voice through the car speakers. All steering wheel controls continue to work as normal before I changed the headunit.
I'm a little bit confused with this thing
