Paint Coming off Aready

I have an 08 Leon FR which I bought from new. At the time I had dealer fitted Parking Sensors as these were not an option from the factory. I now have the problem of paint bubbling and peeling off them. I took the car to my local dealer (not where I bought it from) and they confirmed they are not Seat Parking Sensors (I wasn't aware of this) as they are metal in the middle and not plastic.

I've contacted the dealer where I bought the car and they have agreed to re-spray them. My local dealer doubts this will work as he said the metal is corroding.

Speaking to Seat Customer Services they said if they were Seat Parking Sensors fitted at PDI then they would cover them under the 3 year warranty. However the dealer where I bought the car can't tell me what warranty is supplied[:@]

Has anyone else had problems with dealer fitted options? and what kind of warranty was offered?

if they were original and fitted at pdi prior to collection of the car then the extra's and accessories are covered for 3 years the same as the car and as you had it from new was that the case ?

if non genuine sensors were fitted then i would take it up with the dealer that fitted them but after checking your pdi/invoice/quotes etc to see what you were charged for in the first place

just to be sure - it was outright new and not pre registered or anything ?

It was a factory order and they were fitted before I collected the car.

I checked the invoice, and it says to supply and fit rear parking sensors, it doesn't mention whether they are Seat or not, mind you none of the other options I had state that either.

I don't know where I stand as to whether to make a fuss about them not fitting Seat ones or get them to confirm in writing that they will cover them for the 3 years of vehicle warranty. It seems to be very much "I don't know the answer to that" replies from the Service Dept.

I also have an 08 Leon with parking sensors fitted. The paint starting peeling off the sensors a few weeks ago. Took it back to my dealer and they fitted new sensors, no questions asked.

not sure exactly where you stand in regards to the doubts of genuine not supplied fitted but to quote www.seat .co.uk

Warwickshire once.
If you bought a new car and ordered it with the Sensors then they should be covered by the same warranty. You also have evidence above of others having theirs fixed with no hassle.

Suggest you ring SEAT UK and ask why when yours were provided as part of your specification they have not been fixed immediately when others with the same issue have been. Tell them you have spoken to other owners on SCN.

They have been retro fitted and are not genuine sensors, thus nothing to do with SEAT and the claim lies solely with the dealer.

My sensors were the official Seat accessory parking sensors. They are made by cobra and I've had nothing but trouble with them from day one. They have been replaced 4 times under the SEAT warranty so far. The last time being for peeling paint.
