Hi all, :)

I'm looking at getting rid of my Leon FR (58 plate) and getting a Ibiza Sport 5 door 1.6TDI to try and save a bit on my motoring costs.

Just went to the same dealer where I got my Leon around 15 months ago and this is what deal I've been offered.

12.5k for my Leon, with bluetooth & 18inch alloys. Its done 25k miles.

2k for a car I've got for scrappage

5 door Ibiza Sport 1.6TDI in Candy white with - 17inch black alloys, Convenience pack, Bluetooth pack, Climate Control, USB/AUX ports, ESP, Electric Folding mirrors, Tinted windows for £15,000 so with the scrappage £13,000

I forgot to ask for cruise control so need to ask about that too..

What do you guys think? Is that a good part ex price for the Leon and a good price for the Ibiza with that spec?

I'll have to wait until the end of April start of May for delivery...

Cheers guys

You will miss the power so much it won't be long before you want something faster, just P/X my mk5 ibiza 19 sport tdi for a leon fr can't see me ever going back to IBIZA may be a 5 door fr tdi upwards. Traded in my ibiza 9 months old 17" alloys twin tail pipe, all alloy inside, in all over £1000 extras, 5500 miles best trade in i was offered out of 5 dealers £9500, spending £15000 on a 14 tdi you will better of keeping the leon.

Unfortunately as much as I'd like another FR the missus is putting here foot down on this one :( We test drove the Ibiza Sport and although not having the power of the Leon was still a nice drive, definitely seemed smoother and quieter.

We are test driving the Fiesta and and Punto Evo today so will be interesting to compare the Ibiza to those...

Yer, I understand, I get the same problem! Nothing too expensive... lol

But since you're trading in your FR leon which costs quite a bit and you're getting scrappage you effectively have £14.5K already. If you were to look at the Ibiza FR (new one) its the same 2.0TDI you've been driving (except its 143ps not 170) but its only gonna be £30 tax a year from april on (just under the 120g/km tax band) and averages 62.7mpg. So its only 5mpg less than the 105ps 1.6Tdi which Ive just ordered.. and I bet its a lot more fun!!!

I think maybe you should look at it? As previously mentioned, I think you'll miss the power of the FR. The FR Ibiza is a compromise, you will love how nippy and fun to drive it is, while at the same time you'll love the economy and low tax!

The 1.4Tdi isnt bad, but for £15k spend another 1.5k and you can get the FR which already has most of the kit you mentioned (17", Climate control, Cruise control etc.) Oh yer, and it looks immense!

My personal opinion... I know women are hard to persuade though!

Let us know what you decide on :) Hope it helps anyway!

Cheers Malaroo,

I had exactly the same debate with my better half in the showroom yesterday and it didn't go in my favour lol!

Think this time I might have to a little bit more sensible(ish)

Does the price seem good on the Ibiza sport with that spec + scrappage etc? Another Seat garage only offered me 10k for my Leon so was quite happy when he offered 12.5k... He also said I could keep the Leon until the Ibiza arrives and still honour the 12.5k!

I reckon there might be a bit more of a haggle left in this one even if it's a tank of fuel of something. :)

I didnt even realise they did the 1.4Tdi in the sport spec...

However I understand the other half bit... definitely a tough (impossible?) battle!

It sounds like a good deal...I think.

Let me run this past you...

Im getting the 1.6Tdi sport (105ps, sensible power but still got torque!) with metallic black paint, 17" alloys, ESP pack, Convenience pack, Cruise control and Climate control for £14,750 before scrappage. So after scrappage £12750 with a free full tank of fuel.

If you cant get the FR have a look at the 1.6Tdi, its meant to be an amazing engine, £30 tax again and 65.7mpg combined. As I say, thats what Im getting.

I cant offer much help on the part ex tho... :( havnt done that myself.

Hope you can win the 1.6Tdi battle... say you can get it cheaper than the 1.4Tdi and Ill act as proof! :)

Ahhh, that makes more sense then!

The 1.6Tdi isnt bad... Seems like you're getting a decent deal too :) I reckon you could get the fuel thrown in definitely :)

Metallic paint too if u fancied it im sure!

But yer, FR would be better but the 1.6Tdi is gonna be good :) I cant wait to get mine :)

Yeh looking like I'm going to stick with Seat... I took the Punto Evo out today and wasn't really that impressed with the drive... The Fiesta seemed quite a lively drive but didn't really grab me..

When did you order your car, and how long have you got to wait for it then?

I ordered mine last wednesday...gotta wait 12-16 weeks. But we have a car til mid july so the later the better for us :) but I can understand if u want ur ASAP! I think the 1.6Tdi isnt bad, and its a sensible option if ur gonna keep the car.

Im gonna buy a bigger car long term but no family atm so no bigger car! I love the ibiza and we both agree on it, decent performance and cheap to run.

Yer, i dont particularly like the fiesta. And the punto, im not a fan. The ibiza... its all VW parts! I love VW, quality constructor. But personal preference at the end of the day :)

The ibiza is perfect for what we need right now, can imagine it being a child kart in the future :)

Yeh ASAP would be good for us, they said if we order now it should be the end or April beginning of May... The thought of waiting does suck though as I'm like a big kid and hate to wait for things lol!

lol, yer know how you mean. It is annoying waiting for a car you've ordered!

Unfortunately we're waiting til june because it makes sense money wise, but other than that I cant wait to get it! I reckon its just gonna be a fun and cheap little car :) well im hoping :)
