nice looking motor, as said best to get what work done you can under warrenty to save yourself in future

the blue is a nice colour and as said a cupra in that would have been nice, black is a nightmare to keep clean and i have given up recently with the weather as its just not worth it

Cheers, i think so . I wonder why they didn't make cupra's in this colour...seems odd.

I mainly fell in love with this specific car/colour as i loved the Fiesta MK5 Zetec-s in imperial blue. In fact almost ended up with one but the interior is so boring and rust is a huge issue on them.

Glad i've got this car over the zetec-s now .

It is a tidy car, the only problem i've got is a bit of damp stuck in the car, think i'm going to get some moisture pads to soak it up, as you can't get rid of it in this weather.

I know its not a leak as such, just more like condensation rising from constant damp feet entering the car etc.

Righto boys and girls!

Had a bit of an urge to go and waste some money on Sunday.
However, i wouldn't say it was a waste as such..

My 6 CD changer has been displaying the 'ERROR' sign a lot lately, and in the past few days has got really bad. So i thought about getting another one, but decided i missed being punched in the back by a sub!!

So went out and bought this, a JVC headunit, with red lighting that matches the LED's in the car.

Then i thought i'd stop there and fit up the sub some other time. But i got carried away and in the end i stripped the wiring from my fiesta and moved the sub across. I tucked the wires for the sub away nicely, and the boot now looks like this.

You may notice that there is a silver piece of tape on the speaker.. this is how the sub was when i got given it. It's worked fine for ages, but in this cold weather the tape has come away and i thought it was about time i started thinking about replacing it.

I ended up being let out of college early today, so i went a picked up a new subwoofer.

It was the almighty sum of £25, and was the cheapest in there, but i figured anything is better than the old one, and hopefully it should sound ok. Gonna fit it this weekend.

Next on the list is some new front and rear door speakers, as well as new tweeters, as the quality on the OEM ones is not too brilliant.

In the summer i'm going to look properly at the other audio bits that i want to fit, and hopefully get it sounding crisp.


One other thing.. I have a really wierd leak in the drivers footwell. The sorrounding area of the footwell is absolutely dry, but theres a circle around a football sized big that is soaked. I don't know where it's coming from, but i don't think its the door as the carpet up to the door is completely dry.

Gonna jack the car up Saturday and see if i can point out where it's coming from. I have noticed water is holding between the door and the sill, when i open the door after it has been raining it all falls out..

I have done a search, but until i check for myself i won't know where to start really.

If you have water on the sill when you open the drivers dorr then it's definately the seal in the door thats leaking. There's a sticky in the mk1 leon section regarding leaky door seals this will explain all. Head unit looks good by the way

If you have water on the sill when you open the drivers dorr then it's definately the seal in the door thats leaking. There's a sticky in the mk1 leon section regarding leaky door seals this will explain all. Head unit looks good by the way

I'm gonna check the drainage holes first, and then have a go at tackling it if it's not them.

Though the leaks not really bad so gonna wait a few weeks til it's a bit warmer.

Had a busy weekend and managed to do a few bits and bobs to the car .

Firstly, got the new subwoofer in the enclosure. It sounds so much better than i thought it would! And looks pretty good as well i think.

Then i thought i would crack on and look into the leak in the drivers footwell. So i took out the mat, and put my hand onto the floor, expecting it to be soggy. But it wasn't! We have had a lot fo rain the past few weeks, and it has got better if anything? So maybe it was just a build up from the wet that was on my feet from the snow/rain etc over the last month and a half.

Anyway, i thought i'd leave that for the meantime and keep checking it daily.

So i got the dyson outside and spent ages hoovering everywhere, even using the duster for the dash etc.

Then i started on the real cleaning .

6 hours later this is how my little Tommy was looking.

I'm so happy with the finish i achieved. I wasn't sure what to expect as i used a new product, which i will definately use again!!

Here's what i used, not much i know, but i can definately say the car is spotless and the paintwork has a good layer of protection.

So it was:
Wash off with the hose.
Bucket of water and a sponge to get the muck off.
Hose brush in the arches to get the grit etc out.
Rinse off.
Turtle Wax super concentrate wash and wash all over.
Rinse off.
Leave to drip dry for 30 mins.
Out with the chamois to get the rest of the water off.
Then a coating of the new Turtle Wax ice synthetic polish.
And some window cleaner inside and out.

DONE!

I've heard a lot of good things about the new ice polish, and i used about 5mm worth from the bottle to cover the car with a thick layer using the pad provided. You then wipe off any excess with the microfibre cloth and fold it in half and go over again to buff it up.

The best bit about it is that you can use it on any surfaces apart from glass safely. And as it is clear, it leaves no white markings behind on black trim.



Super stuff

Anyway that's it for now, more to come next weekend i think...

I have some of that ice stuff, pretty good stuff. Havn't used mine for a while, usually use autoglym aqua wax, but i know its there if i ever run out!

Tommy looks very clean now, good luck keeping him that way though lol

Yeah i think it's awesome . Havent tried the autoglym aqua wax, worth getting you reckon?

Yeah i love my car being clean, doesnt get too dirty but cant wait til the summer when theres less crap on the road!

that turtle wax polish leaves a nice finish but it won't last. If i was you I'd give Collinite wax a go, I'd say it's the best bang for your buck and the longevity is great. I applied 2 layers about 7 months ago and water still beads.

Ah, yeah i thought that it might not last as long, but it was 10X faster going over the car with this than it was normal polish.

I have heard nothing but great things about collinite wax, shall try it next time .
