Hi, long time since I've been on here ... replaced my Passat with a FXXX

Anyway, saw this on another forum and thought it was interesting.

How to fix sticking VNT vanes using mouth suction (or a bike pump)

cheers, Craig

Optimistic but that just would not work, otherwise VAG uk would have issued all dealers with a bike pump and a technical explaination.

Doing the above would just move the vanes slightly (the creak heard), may end up jamming it there and could possible damage the diaphram on the regulator.
The only proper and complete way of fixing this problem is to remove the turbo, strip it, clean it and rebuild it.

This sort of thing might work on a turbo with a wastegate/actuator where it is freed off with force and only has one moving part but on vnts (which a large majority of VAG manufactered cars are built with) it would not.

Sorry to p1ss on your fire but as a consolation - i've just replaced my leon with a FXXX too ;)
