i have an awful feeling that my manifold is blowin, either that or where the downpipe is, just out of curiosity where can i get a new manifold from and what are the range of prices?

cheers rich

2nd hand, ebay

It will probably just have cracked - but whip the heat shield off & have a look for black sootyness

is there any aftermarket ones that are worth looking at? dont mind buyin new if its worth it, im soon to be having a new full stainless on so im going to get a decat pipe and new manifold if need be then have it all dont at once.

i have the same problem with mine :( is it a common problem on the 16v manifold to crack? an what are the options on stanless manifold?

apparently the mk3 abf one fits with help from a hammer lol but i mean probs be safer to get one made lol : )

thats what i meant lol you had to take a chunk out the bult head there a thread on here about it and apparently a video on youtube ive heard :)

I'm pretty sure the cast manifold fitted to the mk3 golf with ABF engine is exactly the same as fitted to the ABF engined Ibiza, its the same engine after all,the manifold from a KR engined mk2 golf will also fit, with that in mind a KR engined Ibiza will also have the right manifold.
I think the downpipe differs between the golf and ibiza, the golf having a cat that bolts up to the downpipe, the ibiza having the downpipe and cat as one(at least the ibiza i broke recently had this set up).
Hope that helps a little.

hey paul, they are different, same engine right, but the bulkhead is totally different, so gave different "routes" as it were, so you have to bulkhead bash, easier to buy an ibiza specific one :)

golf mk3 and ibiza mk2 manifold are the same! but there are 2 version

the old one

and the new one

you can also fit the golf mk3 cat with downpipe under ibiza mk2, but from VW is 19cm longer so you must cut your middle exhaust on ibiza.

itaian job, golf mk3 with older manifold has cat and pipe separately, but with the new manifold has already all in one.

edit:

golf mk3 cat

ibiza mk2 cat

mk3 Golf manifold on mine with standard cat

just note when cat's are changed they usually come as a shorter bolt on one with a shorter downpipe, makes fitting easier

i recieved my hottuning manifold today. i stripped down the old manifold and found it was blowing. so i was glad i got a new one. Went to fit the new manifold and it was wrong. It is for a different car but looked very simalier but the ports were different. Had to put the old one back on with snapped bolts!! not happy but hey when the new one comes it will be a lot easier.

That sucks when you get the right one let us know how it goes and if it fits well if soulf could I badger you for the website link and model you got so I can get the right one

i think most of the 16v manifolds are designed for the KR engine from the mk2 golf, which is 15mm shorter than the ABF engine and thats why the downpipe fouls the bulkhead...

had a similar issue hunting a 16v manifold for the ABF'd mk1 golf

added for more info rather than anything else for you searchers :D
