as lee says, the cable used to locate on the pin to the left (in the pic) of where it is now. I drew a line between the pin and the pivot point; then drilled a hole 40% of the distance along this line from the original location to reduce the shifter throw by 40%. I then threaded this hole, inserted the bolt, then a nut the other side, cable on and then another locking nut :)

Interesting thanks.

Might have to try and get hold of a replacement so I can do it without taking mine off the car first.

Guessing a new OEM part would be too expensive?

Are all 6 speed ones the same?

For me, there's the following definites...

1. Finish off white LED interior lighting project (rear passenger, vanity mirror lights, glove box needs replacement). Rear passenger lights are going to be an ar53!

2. Steam clean interior and bring some of the dash plastics back to a nice deep black

3. Complete headlamp bulb upgrades (dip beam done, just high beam and side lamps). Also doing number plate lights and reverse.

4. Front bumper and bonnet prep and respray - they look as if they've been through a war!

And then the maybe items...

5. Upgrade clutch

6. Custom remap

7. Sort out N/S front door bass related vibration and EQ front speakers to handle more slightly lower bass frequencies.

8. Pull-down widescreen TFT from the roof, complete with one off iPod control mod for video (testing to be completed soon)

9. New shocks and bushes if they start to get bad.

10. Front brake upgrade

Still waiting on Seat getting the right ones to Sere. Dave says that the other day he was still getting the wrong ones... I've not got the paintwork sorted yet so no new badges going on yet anyway, but I'd like to have the right one in my hands so I can let you have the other
