Kirst's Leon 1.6S - 'Tommy'

Hiya everyone :).

For those that didn't see my 'newbie' thread, im Kirst!

Used to drive a Fiesta Mk4 (N reg), and just before christmas this year decided i needed to upgrade to something nice.

I looked around at a variety of cars, and in the end stumbled across Seat. I like the Ibiza but find them quite small inside, and know a few people with them so in the end i landed up with a Leon. The new love of my life.

I couldn't afford a cupra, as much as i'd love one the fuel and insurance etc just seemed too innapropriate at the moment, so i got a 51 reg Leon 1.6S. Surprisingly enough, the insurance for this is £200 cheaper than my old Fiesta - Bonus!

I picked the car up on the 19th December, and i'll let the pic's do the rest of the talking. They were taken just after i got it home.

Sorry about the amount of pic's i have posted, but couldn't decide which ones.

When i bought the car the garage done a few things at my request to be included in the price, these included:
Service
MOT
Cambelt and Waterpump
New wing mirror (this was cracked on the housing on the back)
Respray of part of the front bumper (there were a few scratches)
Respay of bonnet (two 5p sized pieces of lacquer peeling).

These were all done before i picked the car up. I also got a wodge of service history and most of the stamps in the book.

A few days after i had the car home, it snowed heavily again, and my poor little car got stuck at my work for 3 days due to it being snowed in.

There was also a chip of paintwork missing from the opposite side of the front bumper (about the size of a 10p coin) to what they had already sprayed. So i was going to rebook the car in at a later date for them to sort out under warranty.

Around 1 week after having the car the emissions light came on... So on Tuesday night i dropped the car off at the garage i bought it from to get a few niggly bits sorted out (i wanted to attempt them myself but while it's under warranty it's best to make the most of it!)

The car is at the garage now and they are sorting out:
The emissions light (they are taking it to the seat dealer).
The paint chip on front bumper.
The cup holder (the spring is broken but they may as well fix that too!).
The heater dash control panel bulb. (Doesn't illuminate - presuming it's just a case of changing the bulb).

I got a peugeot 107 courtesy car while it's being fixed, and i can officially say they are nasty to drive!! I drove it home, parked it up, and that is where it's staying until the garage call me to pick my baby up!!

Anyway, cheers for reading. I didn't mean to write such an essay !!

those emissions lights are a pain in the arse. Ive got the same light and need a new lambda sensor.

Car looks good though. Reminds me of mind from which I have many fond memories of.

Yeah i'm hoping it won't keep coming on and that this will sort it but i've heard they are consistently annoying!

Thanks, i love driving it, so comfortable at higher speeds, unlike my fiesta!

Nice car!

The 1.6 engine is really quiet isn't it?

You just need a new stereo now. I bought this one with red illumination to fit in with the rest of the dash: http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/product_m-sony-cdx-gt33u_p-25204.htm

I'd say it's pretty average, my boyfriends 1.6 8v Mk4 Astra is a lot quieter in my opinion.

Not sure about audio yet, i have quite a few plans with it, all of which involve everything being hidden away, so it will always look OEM..

However i'm happy enough with the CD changer and standard speakers at the moment, they sound decent enough. I spent loads on my Fiesta on audio and the Leon is only a little worse i'd say and most of that is high end distortion..

I miss having a sub punching me in the back though

Ah, didn't spot the CD changer - thought you were on the cassettes!

The 1.6 is quiet compared to my previous one - a 98 Citroen Xsara Coupe

Quick Update:-

Got the car back from the garage today, so happens that the emmisions light was due to the catalytic converter. They have fitted a new one under warranty.

They also fixed the rest of the niggly bits that i asked, and i'm so happy to have my baby back!

Also got a bit worried, and ended up taking out an extended warranty for the next year..

One thing.. if i modify the car does it affect the warranty seeing as i have paid out of my pocket??

Cheers in advance you little wierdos :cartman:

Really happy with how they look on the car, i got external as i plan to tint the windows etc soon.

I also ordered some Seat stickers from flea-bay to go on my wing mirrors, think they look sweet, and are a good addition.

Nice looking car you have there. Glad to see you got the problems sorted. Always loved blue cars. Wish they'd made the LCR in blue:cry:

Yeah i'm glad too, just hope there's not any more! I've had about 1000£ worth of work done on the warranty so far, most of it is bits cause i'm picky. May as well make the most of it though..

Yeah i fall in love with the car everytime i wash it, makes me smile like a cheeky little kid!!

Thanks for the comments :)

Hahaa, that's extreme!! I'm getting everything that's wrong on the car done, but tbh i can't find anything else for them to do yet..:p

I really want an LCR now, but i'll stick with this for a while.

nice looking motor, as said best to get what work done you can under warrenty to save yourself in future

the blue is a nice colour and as said a cupra in that would have been nice, black is a nightmare to keep clean and i have given up recently with the weather as its just not worth it
