certainly does went through my head so i priced up a tip which would cost in the region of £35-50 with 3 quotes ive got(pipewerx, RSR and another independent) and i can do the welding where i used to work but if it ends up bent which is easy to do as i doubt i could do it in situ it will look even worse than a rusting one.

his is a lcr 225 went through two mafs in 12 months changed to a green cotton about 8months ago and hasnt played up since.
apprently the oil from the filter sticks to the sensor and ruins it. green cottons and pipercross are not oiled.

greens are oiled, my panel came pre oiled and when i clean it i re-oil and remove the excess. You need oil as it aids filtering or you will suck up larger crap into the combustion chamber.

The way you knacker the MAF is by using to much oil, either from the factory or after cleaning yourself, it doesn't need a lot just a very thin film to catch the smaller bits.
