Speakers crackling in cold weather?

My driver side speaker is working intermittently at the moment and sometimes it crackles. At first I thought it was the snow on the roof affecting the aerial, but it does it for CDs as well. Told my dad this (he has a 1.4 Stylance) and he has had the same thing happen to him. Is it just the cold weather then? I couldn't find any Ibiza-specific topics about this. Or could both the cars be going on the blink at exactly the same time, which would be an amazing coincidence?

Just doing some reading, some say its best to let your car heat up before using the speakers

Interestingly, the first time I heard my speakers crackle was on a cold snowy day before xmas. At the time I was like :wtf:.

So maybe it is just something to do with the cold, but i can't think for the life of me what would cause it.

It's not that cold, haven't reached double figures in the minuses yet!

That would explain it, I've not done any journeys to really warm the car up, as it's been so cold, it's just hitting the right temp when I'm arriving at work.
