That ebay link doesn't work for me? Sounds good though, please fix it :D

I decided to give Brent Acre the benefit of the doubt as I may have given them a wrong number by accident or something so rang them back and just got a really good quote so I'm glad I did and thanks to those who recommended them. I'm allowed to mod my car up to 230bhp (currently 180 so probably won't get anywhere near that) and I can make any mods I want, I just need to phone them so they can update the file. There's no admin charge or anything, it's brilliant. Will be cancelling my direct line cover tonight and moving to them in the morning!

Cheers dude. Nothing is ever that simple though; which bulb type is it? I would imagine it was either H7 or H7C? (H7C being slightly shorter).

Hi peeps,

Interesting thread this..

I'm thinking very closely about the Revo Stage 1 map for my std LCR225 in the coming months but I am also keen on the idea of improved induction, TIP, Recirc Valve and maybe an exhaust..

Am I right in thinking that an open cone would be noisy when compared to the OE setup or an enclosed induction kit?

Which enclosed induction kits are worth looking at for the LCR? (I had the BMC CDA kit for my MGZS180 V6 which was great - is this any good for the LCR?)

Which TIP should I get?

Are there any decent stainless steel cat-back exhaust systems out there that are as quiet as the OE pipe? If so, what are they?

I'm keen on the idea of this "Dog Bone Mount" thing. Where is best to source one of these from and how much are they?

Also, can you get turbo timers for the LCR? If so, where from and how much are they?

Cheers,

J:)

Is there anywhere decent online to buy genuine parts from? Since VagParts shut down I've never found anything that comes close.

Came in this thread to ask the same.

Unlike the other websites listed VagParts had bundles of parts used for various cheap mods. For example the correct parts combo for the rear wiper upgrade and the cruise control.

Are the dealers the only places you will get these now.

Cruise control is a mod I would liek to add, well it was at the price VAGParts had it at..

Look at the forum sponsor section, they will hVE 99% of vag stuff between them, usually a lot cheaper than the dealers too.

e.g.: http://www.awesome-gti.co.uk/product.php?xProd=10607&xSec=353

It's cheaper because you only get the bushes, not the whole thing. So you use your current one, remove old bushes and replace with these. However, you will need a good press to put it all together again, which I've heard is a PITA.

A cone will always be a lot louder than an enclosed airbox. But it's a nice sound!

The enclosed kits such as BMC CDA will fit Leon, but they have proven to be restrictive in terms of airflow compared to an open cone. There is a whole argument of pros and cons of all induction kits...search for induction war in mk1 leon section.

As for TIP...Forge sell them for big wonga but are very good (I have one of these), otherwise if you want to save money but not compromise quality then go for THS. Dogbone mount is best from THS too, along with engine mounts (FR3 kit).

There are a lot of exhaust systems that are as quiet as OE when normally driving then when you boot it the sound is awesome. A few that come to mind are Blueflame, Miltek, Piper etc. Make sure you have a sports cat rather than decat otherwise it will be loud.

Have a search theres loads of info on here:)

So far I've ordered HID for dipped lights, Jetex cone filter, Jabba heatshield, CAI pipe (although starting to doubt I'll use it after doing some reading), 007P (with green and yellow spring for before and after remap). I think that's it so far… Cheers for the input guys.

Still need to get Forge TIP, THS FR3 kit, remap and then I will think about a new exhaust system. Should have all this done by March I reckon.

Mylo sent me the code, very handy. Tempted to just order it all now and then starve for the next two weeks but I will be patient. The TIP is the hardest thing to buy just because I feel ill spending £100odd on a bit of pipe!

Worst thing for me will be fitting it all as I've never done engine mods before (polo was all bumpers, lights etc) so it will be interesting.

Defected!
TIPs are easy enought to fit because they're a direct replacement but a flexible clip driver is worth having as it's a pia trying to get a screw driver down there. THS used to make TIPs which were apparantly very good and much cheaper than the Forge ones but I don't know if they still do them, you'd have to email Ollie. Failing that, make sure you shop around for the Forge one as there can be a massive price difference between suppliers. Also, get new clips.
