i have a 1.9tdi leon and im getting a remap done on my car in the next few weeks. i was talking to a mate whos got a 1.9tdi ibiza and he said since hes had his remap done his engine has popped off the engine mounts twice in the last year. just wondering if anybody has had this problem with the leons and if its worth upgrading the engine mounts. if it is worth upgrading the mounts which ones are the best to go for and how much are you roughly looking at the get them fitted

I really think this problem was just personal to him. A 1.9tdi engine remap really isn't going to cause that much extra movement. I've never heard of it so can't see it being a common issue. The 2.0tfsi eninge is good for 400bhp/ equivalent increases in torque and the mounts handle it.

For peace of mind if you can get a torque arm insert or something to reduce roational twist of engine but you may notice engine vibration and a harsher ride.

I think you shoud just get the map.

2.0tfsi will prob have totaly different mounts so is kinda irrelevant but i wouldnt want to put 400bhp through standard engine mounts or the exhaust. I dont think the op will need to upgrade engine mounts with just a remap though regardless of his mates problems but if you want peice of mind its up to you.

I wouldn't want to either...yeah, I know they're totally different mounts but VAG manufacture things to a high standard throughout their range and try to give parts similar compliances and tolerances, their engineers know when they've created an engine that produces 206torques and in a few button presses their engine will be subject to an extra 100 torques so they build things with extra allowances so they can bring out special editions with a few bhp more and charge a few £k more ;)

Well having seen my o/e engine mounts when i put uprated ones in i,m surprised my engine didn,t jump out and run away - they were woefully soft

Are you running the full set of mounts mate or just the lower pendulum one?

my mate sent me the above link and i noticed that it has the same engine as mine but hes got 170bhp out of a remap. the guy whos selling the golf says hes got no mods on his engine apart from a straight through exhaust. is this even possible to get as ive been told ill see around 140bhp from my car by a few different companies. would much rather have 170bhp if i could

2 side mounts. There is No movement whatsoever now - i think all 3 would be overkill and for me generate too much vibration.

What mounts did you go with blade, and you experiance much vibration in the cabin?

VF engineering drivers side engine and gearbox mounts. Vibrations, no not really. Deffo more noise but its acceptable - sounds more metallic. It makes you want to rev it just to hear it sing :funk::funk:.

well, finally got round to getting my remap done and what a difference its made. got it done at rs tuning, leeds and i would recommend them to anyone. get service and a great map. cars gone from 108bhp to 145bhp and 185ftlb to 247ftlb. apart from the power gains the car drives much nicer and smoother now. the guys at rs reckon there is more power to be had out of my engine but my clutch is holding me back. they reckon around 160bhp and 300ftlb could be seen with a better clutch. ive been trying to find one for my engine but cant find any. does anybody know if a clutch from say an fr tdi or the 140tdi will fit or if there is an aftermarket one made for a 1.9tdi? im not to clued on on this sort of thing.
