Ok boys my lcr has had a funny few seconds lately stage 1 map boost 20 psi n429 bypas in plAce. On long drives in 5 th and 6 th accelorating from 60 up wards making the lcr work she hits 20 psi the drops to 18 then straight back to 20 then 18 then 20 then 18! It's like I'm making the car accelorate but it wants to go slower then faster and so on ???
No fault codes at all! And every so often miss fires @ 10 psi. 5 th 4 k revs then clears only seems to do it under load! ChAnge the maf last week for a gen Bosch one made no diffrence car felt smoother but the above problem was there?

CN any one shed some light 66 k 04 53 plate lcr bam??

miss fires are often a sign of a coil pack, might well not be but worth checking, do you have vag com, im gessing so as you talk about misfireing, is it all ways on the same cylinder if so could well be coil pack??

That's true, miss fire ofthen coil pack?! Ihave a v a g com code reader, but only shows fault codes! But going back to the other I don't think a coil pack would cAuse fluttering boost, and to make my self clear the lcr dosent miss fire when the boost is on 18 then 20 then 18 then. 20 something else must be doing that??????? Some one help!

What about a loose waste gate actuator getting blown open with the 20PSI but holding at 18-19PSI?

Could try getting a forge one with different springs to resist this happening.
But equally could be DV getting blown open too.

Let me know if you still have your old MAF as know a few guys interested in the housings for hybrid applications

misfiring or a loud popping from the exhaust?

I would say if it is fluctuating boost, then you may well have a boost leak some where? Have the hoses underneath the inlet manifold been replaced at all, as these are very prone to splitting, but it is difficult to see a split hose as these are right underneath the manifold

also do you still have the standard pipes onto the inlet manifold? I see your car has done around 66k. The pipes may be getting a little old now and need replacing as these are prone to flexing and collapsing slightly, leading to fluctuating boost

Also have you checked the DV? May be sticking, leading to a hesitation in boost

a few points to investigate for you there:)

I have checked d/v and changed from a medium spring to a hard one made no diffrence same fluttering still happens but it only happens when you have to make the lcr work hard say 5/6 gear 3& half revs and the turbo has to work a bit harder to bring the speed up.

As for hoses I have changed t. I.P and both top inter cooler hoses top left/ right

inlet manafold pipes witch ones are those??

Sorry I didnt mean change the spring, I meant as in when did you last service the DV?

Also what colour spring are you running now? Yellow?

either way, if it is fluctuating boost, you have a split pipe somewhere. Have a check over the engine bay.

Inlet manifold is where the silicon hose from the intercooler feeds up on the right hand side of the bay into the inlet manifold, but you said you have replaced this pipe and the pipe which connects to the alloy pipe which runs up the left side of the bay onto the turbo? correct?

EDIT: I see you have a VAG Team DV fitted, what is one of those?

I'm running the red spring at the mo, red is hardiest yellow medium blue soft , that's with the vag team d/v I'm using! D/v is 12months old done about 7 k miles all seems fine inside it!!

The hose from airbox to turbo has been changed , hose from throttle body to intercooler 1 & 2 so why dosent a boost leak throw up a fault code??

I would suggest changing to a Yellow spring. I run this in mine and is fine for the power my hybrid K03 is running

I would say red is too hard and is more suited to big turbo applications

boost leaks will typically not throw up a code, hence why we use VAG logs to show, in this case, a fluctuation in boost

either way, check around the engine bay tonight, not only for split pipes, but make sure all the jubilee clips are tight as well

I once had a slight stuttering issue, as if back firing slightly when accelerating in low gears, when the car was under full load, and it turned out to be my spark plugs. Changed all four then the car was fine

not saying this is the issue, but when did you last change your plugs?

Right lets clear a few things up.....

Been out under the lcr for a good hour looking at all boost pipes....
think i found a leak on the top red (seat) silcon pipe ,that goes to the turbo on the top of the engine i peeled the heat sheild wrap of it and as it bends there are too tiny splits in it, almost like a (snake bite)
the part number on it was 06a 145 832L ,and there was i tiny bit of black soot on the back of the heat wrap next to the split.!! looking at the split u could see past the red rubber, and see strands of brown fibre,i presume its leaking from here does anyone no the price of this back elbow??

going back to the plugs fitted 12 months ago ish, the cahp who fitted them for me said that they had come preset form seat for the lcr??
so there was no need to alter the spark gap???
i was none the wiser???

chatting to a local tunning garage , and they said thats rubbish the plugs would have to be set to the lcr??

im still none the wiser?!!

if the gaps were wrong woulndt they have played up sooner??
come to think of it just after i got my remap done i can remember it miss firing very faintly in 5th gear @3900 to 43000 revs, then clearing?!
the lcr drives fine at the mo, apart from the fluttering boost at high speed (hence 18 19 20,18 19 20) is what the boost is doing. and the faint miss fire in 5th gear so my point is are the plugs preset? or do they have to be set when fitted?
