Funny noise coming from car (Rattling exhaust i think)

Hi, i was just out and about and was down a country lane and ended up doing a wheelspin on some black ice and ended up sliding down a ditch now the car is making a really funny noise and is really deep and sounds like the exhaust is rattling a lot but i'm not too sure what's up with it since the exhaust is hidden. I have a feeling something under the car has been damaged.

The good thing is it has stopped that 1.2 whistling noise haha.

There's no lights on the dashboard though so does that mean its mechanically sound? It seems to have a warning for everything else so i presume it would be going crazy if the exhaust was really broken?

Sorry to hear what happened, hopefully u haven't done too much damage.

What exactly did you do? Did u hit anything or damage any panels? Or has your car just gone gone over some like a rock hidden in the grass and caught something underneath?

You'll need to get your head underneath her or try and get her up on some ramps to see what exactly you have done and what all has been damaged. Probably just partially ripped your exhaust off and fingers crossed should be an easy fix.

Thanks for the reply i won't drive it until i get it sorted now but i was just driving down a country lane and stopped at a junction and didn't realise there was any ice so when i went to pull off put about 2000 revs on and it just slid and the revs shot up to 6000 and i could hear it sliding so i shifted up to 4th to try and stop it sliding and ended up going down a slight pot hole at the side of the road. It didn't look that deep though

I understand now. Its just unlucky what happened but could have been a lot worse. Something underneath has got a wee knock from the edge of the pothole so i doubt it can have done that much damage if the pothole was fairly small.

I imagine you've just knocked the exhaust loose.

maybe just then undertray has became loose?

I had a look today but couldn't see anything (the end of the exhaust looks burnt and a bit rusty but thats it). My dad was going to have a look but its been snowing so he said he will do it tomorrow now. I took it out earlier and someone said i think your exhaust has a problem so i just took it home and will leave it until its sorted

It might well be the undertray but the thing is i noticed it is only making the noise when i accelerate, the harder i accelerate the louder it becomes? Wouldn't the undertray be constant?

Oh and the exhaust is still behind the bracket so isn't lose.

My dad just had a look underneath and said the exhaust is on properly and there isn't any holes in it? He took it for drive and noticed it only does the noise when its accelerating and is OK when it's idling so we think somthing has become loose but have no idea what or where to look! Any ideas?

Undertray seems OK i think.

It is also OK revving as long as it isn't moving :S

Could be a loose heatshield rattling on the exhaust somewhere?
I can't remember if these have heatshields.

You could grab the exhaust and shake it with your hand to see if it is that that's making the noise.
