Altea XL 1.9 TDI oil filter cap puls off and oil leakes out

I have now twice experienced this effect within one month on my Altea XL 1.9 TDI, 2008. Km's only 15000!

After starting the engine and starting driving, after about 100 metres oil pressure light turns on and warning alarm beeps.

I turn off the engine, open the engine hood and notice, that oil filter cap has pulled off and motor has pumped all engine oil off. :wtf:

So there must be some kind of pressure inside the engine.

Car is now in service and fortunately it has warranty still left. Service company only tells, that this is known issue and they are looking for parts to fix it. They do not tell exactly what is wrong. Do you have any idea?

I live in Scandinavia and it is freezing now, but when this happened first time there was around +5 degrees celsius, so it can't be freezing problem.

Anyone knowing more about this issue, please enlighten me! My trust for Seat has seriously suffered because of these two incidents. :ban:

the oil filter cap (and housing it screws into) are quite chunky deep threads, so it's simply that the cap hasn't been screwed on correctly or the threads are damaged on the cap, you're not by any chance meaning the 'oil filler' cap are you ?

No, I really mean oil filter cap. When this first time happened, I was 99% sure, that service man didn't tighten the cap well in 15000 km maintenance , but I was present at the second time when this happened and he really tightened it well and threads of the cap were health.

Yesterday I was told that this problem was entered to Seat's service system and today I got answer, that this is a known problem and they are looking for the parts to fix it. But they do not tell what the problem actually is. I hope someone reading this has more information as my car apparently is not the only one having same trouble.

I wish it is that minor problem, but as local Seat service company said "we're looking for parts to fix this problem..." I'd guess that it must be more than that.

I got phone call from service.
Now it seems that the fault was in tolerance between oil filter stand and cork. Threads were out of tolerance (=too small cork), so oil pressure pulled off the cork. Error of subcontractor, who made the parts.

I hope this really solves the problem.
