Driving home this afternoon i noticed the radio display had gone out, got home parked up but when i went to use the car again a few hours later it had no control panel display lights and would'nt start. Checked and replaced a 5 amp fuse ( no 26 ) for the display lights and car started ok :), switched engine off so i could go and lock front door of house and had same problem when i went to start the car . Took out the 5 amp and found it had blown again so replaced and checked all other fuses, replacing one 10 amp that should have been a 7.5 amp, but now the fans in the engine are constantly running and the yellow diagnosis light is on, has anyone had this problem and can tell me if it's a garge job. It's a 2001 Y Ibiza S 1.4.

Sounds like something could be shorting somewhere.

First port of call is to check the fuses on top of the battery - sometimes the fusebox can melt in places and cause havoc.

Thanks Alex, checked the three fuses under the hood that night. It's been to the garage and apparently it's a problem with a primary switch in the aircon causing the cooling fans to stay on. When i get the car back Monday i'll find out more and pop something on the forum.

left of the radiator as you look at the car is a plug. unplug that and that should stop your fans kicking in when you turn it off. ! :D

Cars back from garage, the problem was a trinary switch in the air con , never knew that the car had aircon as the garage what sold it never mentioned it.
The garage done a fault test, but because the air con did not work had to re-gas to find out the fault codes, the part took a few days to locate and cost just under £70. So with labour, part and re-gas the total cost was a little over £140.:D
