Ok i have no errors or faults but i want to just see if it likes an ecu restart! by disconnecting the battery "is this a wise choice"

The car still has warrentie with the garage I bought it off and had allot done to "her" this last month inc cambelt full kit/water pump MAF censor, door seals etc, it has had some errors and been through power loss "since they tried a uni part MAF at 1st ran like ****" took it onto the motorway with the uni maf and it held back after 4.000 revs and just was not right little jerky/jumpy. Also when I reached say 80-90 mph there was a burning smell but i am not sure what it was i told the garage but they didn't have a clue and can't drive it over 70mph lol and this was at around 90 :/.

Anyway the oem maf is now on and seems allot better. but i think its not the same and haven't tested the motorway trip out yet again. So this weekend want to give it another big test as i only have a mth or so warrentie left with them and a autoprotect after that untill march next year.

I just want to know what happens and what's needed after the battery has been disconnected
"Will i need to realign my throttle body ?"
"Is it just the radio code needed" ?
"will my windows all work lol ?"

I have no vac-com atm after xmas i will buy a lead.

Any ideas what that burning smell could of been ? after my lc hits say 45+ the engine or something sounds allot louder is this normal ? when slowing down you can here that noise slowing down till arround 40mph then its fairly quite again. not sure if that's normal ?.

Would be good to meet some others close to me with LC or LCR's so let me now if this is possible I'm in norfolk/norwich i have an LC 03. 101% standard. ATM Need to have peace of mind more than anything else lol..

All help much appreciated

RE-align is only need when it is cleaned.
Yes you need to radio code.
Yes but they need resetting just hold them up for a few seconds after they have been closed.

Thanks lee

ahh that's fairly simple then. you are sure the windows will be ok lol "if i hold them up when they are closed for a few secs" will they open/close auto ? so is it worth me doing you think ? not sure why I'm doing it just peace of mind make sure no errors come back "some say it feels like a new car again" etc

What about the noise when going fast say 60. I don't think its road noise seems like engine and whines down when you break you can hear it slowing down.

And the burning smell going very fast like 80-90 confused with that need to try it again

Yes i'm sure :)

Might bearing/gearbox hard to diagnose via text ;)
Burning could be the heat of the turbo, check under the bonnet after a spirited run

That's great m8 most evenings are great for me and all day weekends but id come up your way save you the trek if i had to "ill sort something with yah 1 time :)" there isn't much wrong atm its more for piece of mind since its new to me i have had a fair bit done to it and few things have changed like fan sounds and other things.

The noise when driving over "30" i know now its a front wheel bearing lol at 1st i thought it was a noise of the engine and sounded not to bad but now i know its 100% wheel bearing and that's not good sound lol booked it in to be fixed asap.

What did you come to Norwich for m8 you're out in beccels right ?

I work at audi in norwich.
Have access to fault code reader, vag com and works vas machine, but on dodgy grounds at the mo using that... so as its only engine you need checking can do that.

however disconnecting the battery probably wont make any difference whatsoever, afterwards you will need a radio code which if you look in the handbook it may be in there, and windows, simply hold the switches both in the up position for 5 seconds and they will basic set. throttle body only needs basic setting once cleaned.

the burning smell however... have you checked for leaks, is the car over heating? brakes fading, clutch slipping?

and noise wise, it could be various things, tyres out of shape, wheel bearings, gearbox whine etc etc.

weight is the enemy
You say the cambelt's just been done. There's a chance that they've put it on a notch out. That would make it run badly although probably worse than you describe. If the burning smell is of rubber rather than oil maybe they have over tensioned the belt or not put everything back together properly.
Good luck with it anyway

Silver facelift one then! I was tempted to strip it for any bits I wanted haha ;)

lol that is a lovely car and best colour

That's the 1 m8.

Its been on vag m8 and mercs diagnosis system no errors what so ever now. There was a few mainly to do with maf so we got that done "but they stuck a unipart maf on 1st" it hated it ran like poo for least week and a day or so after but seems ok now.

The wheel bearing is 100% the noise not sure on the burning smell "I am hoping that the bearing too" i will have to take it for a good run again see if it happens after wheel bearings been done.

You probable stole the maf tim ! maybe why it needed a new 1 lol

I will let you know what the burning smell is at high speeds when i suss it myself probable after the fire brigade have put the fire out and told me what it was

Well we got the car back seems ok! but really can't tell in this weather. I will take it for a good run in the next few days.

They said it was drivers side bearings then after that it still made noise and they said something about the hub and the disc was catching a little due to rusty lip.. so that was grinded off seems weird thoe but I guess i will find out soon if its gonna give more problems. "hopefully not"
