Remove the facia around the radio.

You will then have access to the buttons.

No need to remove radio ;)

Do not use a screwdriver as the plastic scratches easily

dunno if i'm being a spaz or what, but how do you take out the trim around the hazard lights, rear window heater, etc?

i don't want to jam a screwdriver in there because it will scratch it

what's the easiest way to remove that top panel?

oh, is it all one piece? lame.
basically i just want to swap the heated seat switches to see if it's the switch that's broken or the heating element in the seat.

regarding radio removal, do you need a special tool to take it out? i've got the Aura CD which just has 2 rectangular slots on the bottom edge

will i die if i don't disconnect the battery before attempting to fiddle with the switches?
or is it just safer to disconnect them anyway :p

basically i just need to get at the heated seat switches, which is where the cupholder is on this pic.
i thought i could just take the top panel off, but it seems that the whole thing is 1 piece?

does the ashtray really have to come out too? seems like a lot of hassle..

It shows how to remove the relay, you might be able to get to the other ones similar ;)
no i can't.
The answer is you pull the front of the switch off - I did this by opening the cup holder then using a screwdriver behind the switch.

i don't have a cupholder, i have heated seat switches, which is what i'm trying to get at in the first place :/

i appreciate you're trying to be helpful, so is the facia one big piece or is the top panel seperate?
if it's one big piece then the radio has to come out regardless, perhaps along with the ashtray

Yes its all one big piece and you need to take the ashtray out which is one screw its probably the easiest thing in the whole car to remove, and the radio has to come out as per my last post.

Here's a pic.
You can clearly see all four screw locations.
