Does anybody know what the noise is coming from the engine on the 1.2s, its like a struggling whistling sound? Is it like it on all or just me

Talcon Powder? haha what made you try that? :D

You can hear the hiss if the windows are shut

I dont think it would be so bad, if it didn't make it sound like a corsa.

Chalk is an old school belt quietener - well short time anyway and it serves its purpose when trying to pin-point sources of noise - its a bit safer than using WD-40 or some oil!

Because i sprayed WD40 on it and it kept coming back as it evaporates when the engine gets hot so asked my mate who works at RAC and he said to try it and it worked!

Yeah dido does my head in, i took it back to SEAT and they told me they would take my car to fix it. So they took it back and next thing i know thery're ringing me n telling me that they can't fix it in NI so they were sending it back to the manufacters to get it stripped down to find the problem. i was frecking out bit but agreed. 2 weeks went past and i got a phone call, tey said tey fixed it so i went on up to collect my car. They said" aie sorted the problem out now but never could understand what it was, but appears to be gone now, tik it for a wee test". so i jumped in mycar turned it on, next thing i heard was this wine again :L i burst out laughin and turned round to him and said you having a laugh??, he just went "hmmm... seems to back.... aie, well cheerio"

Seat are useless in Belfast if anyone lives here, they will know! :L but thinkin bout going out to try the talcon powder now lol does it stop the noise??? Becasue i was talking to a mechanic and he said that it was the alternator
